Wise decision on her part. I wonder, especially since she is post-menopausal and there’s a family history, why she didn’t opt to have her ovaries removed.
She did. She did what angelina jolie did. That is how they found the cancer.
I’m talking about before diagnosis, as a prophylaxis.
Chrissie was always a class act.A true professional. I wish her a full recovery
You will see the term preventative hysterectomy with Chris . It included the ovaries..which is technically different than just a hysterectomy.
Preventative means..the angelina jolie decision after finding out you have the Brca mutation.
That is what she did. She had no idea she had cancer. No signs. Unclear if she got a ct scan or if she just decided to rip it out..but she called it preventative
Btw..jolie went one step further and had her breasts removed
“Just checked the fact checkers. The covid vaccines don’t cause ovarian cancer.”
I believe that ovarian cancer has been connected with at least one of the vaccines.
When you say “fact checkers’ — are you being sarcastic? Because the most popular fact checkers, e.g., Twitter’s, admit that they’re just throwing out opinions to further a commie narrative.
One possible reason: Chris Evert’s sister died right at the start of the Covid pandemic in February 2020. Many elective surgeries were cancelled and delayed repeatedly for the past two years.
We have no idea if my relative who died had the brca gene but i do not. I do have some genetic weakness for ovarian cancer...i also have brca variations that are not THE mutation. My Drs were convinced I had ovarian cancer.
I did not but the tumor was generating inhibin.
I remember finding her to be rather cute.
I just looked at her 1981 picture and I now realize I seriously dated someone who looked a lot like her.
I didn’t realize she lost her sister to cancer. Her sister had previously (quickly and unexpectedly) lost her husband to cancer. They used to run the tennis center in Delray and Boca Municipal GC.
Further research reveals that Chris’ sister had genetic testing after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. At that time, her genetic markers did not indicate a pathogenic Brca variant. Only later, with advancing genetic tech, were her results considered problematic. Chris Evert was notified when the interpretation was revised. At that point (early December 2021), Chris decided to have a pre-emptive hysterectomy. Pathology of the surgical specimens determined Chris Evert had cancer, and she returned to have additional surgery two weeks later.
That is a reasonable assumption. I can tell you that i did not want to go in for an overnight stay for a radical hysterectomy during covid pandemic.... but really ran out of time trying to get a differential diagnosis from Drs who would not cooperate
Turns out i was right. They were wrong...but just couldnt waste any more time in case they were right.
In hind sight..i still might have just had ovaries removed but did not have enough info to make that decision because not enough tests were run....so it all came out. Luckily, i didnt catch covid..but i was in a private room so that helped.
My interest in tennis was greatest during Chris’s heyday. Remember all these ladies in addition to Chris:
Evonne Goolagong
Rosie Casals
Billie Jean King
Virginia Wade
Martina Navratilova
Best wishes for a full recovery to Chris Evert.
Prayers for Chris Evert. I have Ovarian and Breast cancer and sympathize with her. May God grant her the strength to help her through this.
I wonder if that really just means there was a change in classifications in the variations...my brca test was done before hers...
I am going to have to call that genetics company Myriad and see what they say. They were the original patent holders for the BRCA test.
If the ovaries are being removed, might as well take out the rest of the plumbing. More often, the decision is whether to leave at least one ovary for the menopause effects. After menopause, if they cut you open, might as well remove it all.

Not that this will help you any..but they are looking at ivermectin for ovarian cancer. Not sure where they are at in their studies..probably a long way off.
they still cant even figure out the best way to target LDH.. which cancer feeds on it.
