“Population Growth Drops 6%...”

Typical BS.

The Growth — expansion of population — is expected to be 100 more Bald Eagles this year than last year. Unfortunately the new amount of Bald Eagles is only 94 — Hence a drop of 6% in ‘growth.’

They do this crap all the time here in SW Montana meanwhile there are several Bald and Golden Eagles that I drive by everyday going into town (a 4 mile journey) - they were not here 10 years ago.

No kidding, total BS. Unless the bird actually eats a lead bullet there would be no effect.

The Iowa DNR released a report just a day or two ago saying the Bald Eagle population is up.

I travel the Midwest extensively. There is no doubt the population is up. I see them all year long, not just migratory.

That’s lead shot for hunting waterfowl. Bullets containing lead are still good to go in all 57 States, I believe.

They don’t leave “organs” behind, either.

State “conservation” government agencies have been pushing copper bullets for hunting, too.

Total, unbelievable BS.

Let’s first have a conversation about lead in AvGas.

They claim it is bullets in the gut piles that are left in the woods.

But some studies seem to say that there is lead in the natural surroundings, like Yellowstone especially. But it is more convenient to blame bullets, and ban lead.

In CA, all hunting is now lead-free ammo, due to ignoring the studies of natural lead sources in order to force lead-free on hunters. Try to find some of that non-lead ammo, and add in that all CA ammo purchasers have to be background checks.

My own study says that, those bald eagles died because of the sun causing skin cancer on their heads, because they’re bald.

My study is more scientific than that of the story/fable above.

Lead buckshot for bird hunting is banned, but not other types of bullets. I used to do stained glass with lead came. My hands would be black from handling it. Still kicking, so I think lead poisoning is mostly BS. Also played with mercury as a kid. Still have above average IQ (disputed by ex-wife—and current one)

Only for waterfowl hunting. And possibly in some uber liberal states.

I have butchered hundreds of deer... and almost always the lead is found in the muscle tissue, not the
gutpile.

“I wonder who fabricated this over-the-top, beyond belief, study.”

EPA has wanted to ban lead ammo for years. I’ve heard they intend to renew it now that Biden is president. I’m sure they, or their fellow travelers in non-profits, ginned this up.

Agree. It’s nonsense. It says reduced increase not reduced population. Besides we have seen a significant increase in eagles here in Florida, enough to greatly reduce the ducks in our lake. Ospreys aren’t doing so bad either.

Just thinking for a moment about the numbers involved should make one very skeptical about this horseshyte article.
