Mexican state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos will take control of the Deer Park refinery in Houston, Texas on Jan. 20, three sources with knowledge of the matter said on Thursday.

Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) in May agreed to sell its majority stake in the Deer Park refinery, which can process up to 340,000 barrels per day (bpd), to Pemex (PEMX.UL), its long-time partner in the plant, for about $596 million.

There is something seriously wrong when we let a nonprivate entity that is owned by a foreign government buy anything inside our borders.

Mexico is taking over our refineries, sending us their “brightest”, soon the demos will call for us to give them back Texas to make it fair.

I smell a venture capitalist behind these shenanigans.

These venture capitalists thing they know everything about the refining business yet they do not know a thing.

They are going to extract some money from this takeover of the Shell refinery then sell when it becomes appropriate.

You mean like a Dutch/British company? Shell sold us out big time. We might like Pemex better than them.

They dropped the Royal Dutch from their name and are relocating HQ from the Netherlands to the UK. So they are repositioning, looks like on several fronts.

$6B ethylene cracker on the Ohio River. I couldn’t believe the rail infrastructure that had been put in place over the past year. That is a serious facility.

“will take control” but not own? meaning the fossil fuel industry sees the coming storm from these coup nazis and is protecting itself thru this venture?

Those who don’t live in the east side of the greater Houston area cannot comprehend the number and size of the refineries in the area.

The biggest one is the Exxon Mobile refinery complex in Baytown, TX. It covers over 4,500 acres and processes over 600,000 barrels each day. It has docks that can handle 3-4 super tankers and another that can handle a smaller one.

With all the other refineries in the area, this sale is a drop in the bucket.

My dad worked in a refinery just under the Sidney Sherman bridge for 30+ years.

(Charter International Oil, Hill Bros, Phibro, Valero is the latest name, I think).

It’s still going to be a fire sale, so to speak, with all the regulations Biden and his administrative harpies are imposing to get rid of “evil coal, gas and oil”.
