Linux Mint 20.3 BETA "Una"

I loaded the Cinnamon Edition on a 120 Gb SSD and it took about 10 minutes to install.
I used Aptik to make an image of my base computer. Then used the Aptik to install all of my base computer's extra software.
I tested it and could not find a single problem. With all of my extra software, it just works.
The size with all of the extra software is about 19Gb.

Been running mint for a few years I really like it. Will upgrade, when I get my new internet service.
Linux is the most widely used OS in the world.
It’s on almost all smart phones and servers.
As for being ‘committed’, that’s pretty funny these days.
The commitment is just dnloading and installing.
The list of supported devices is second to none.
of course, it doesn’t have the same look as windows or the mac... but that’s the point.

I have been using Linux Mint 20 with Cinnamon for almost one year.
The astonishing thing is I am using an old Lenovo ThinkCentre with a Intel Core2 Duo chip and 4 sticks of RAM.
The computer was given to me by a computer store at no charge because it had no hard drive. I installed a 500 GB Samsung SSD and bought a new optical drive because the box was missing its original.
The software operates so fast, you can’t believe it.
Windows 10 is a Model T Ford by comparison.
You can take an old throwaway computer and get fantastic performance with Linux Mint.

Microsoft kept bugging me to upgrade my OS, so I did...to Linux Mint. That was 6 years ago. Good call Redmond!
Can confirm, Linux Mint works great on old dual core systems. People think their computer is the problem, but it’s Windows that is the problem!
I bought a System76 Oryx Pro. It came with Pop!_OS. I was not fond of the Gnome-based desktop, so I just installed KDE on top of it.
It now boots from power-off to login in about 18 secs.
It's an awesome machine.
I’m running Kubuntu on a 7-8 year old Thinkpad. Pretty decent specs though Intel 8x with 16gb ram. Very fast.
Aptik looks pretty cool. I’ve been using a text file with my list of programs on it and re-installing everything. Home folder gets kept so it’s all the same config and my files are there. Still have to install all the programs one at a time. Always wondered if there wasn’t a better, more automated way.

Now, the above may no longer be true, as I am using an older kernel (18.3) because I need a version that runs on a 32 bit system (old Dell Inspiron laptop).
Mint failed to recognize the original wifi install (Linux Lite, OTOH, did..and worked as expected).
After buying three different USB wifi dongles touted for their Linux compatibility, ONE of the three finally worked (Panda) with Mint.
Linux runs on everything from Arm SoCs to supercomputers...
My ham rig runs Linux :-)
When I was playing with different distros / troubleshooting this one, I wrote a bash script that will install all the software I needed, so I could re-install without worry. The script sets up my user account, hostname, NFS mount points, wallpaper that I like, adds a couple of PPAs, sets up my VPN, performs a full update/upgrade, and reboots.
It's pretty nice.
