the older I get the more I believe the evil we see may be far more complex than we know and its easier to just not think about it.

Same.

I don’t mean to minimize criminality. There is a lot of it and most of it has little to do with CTE or TBI’s or unseen wounds from a warzone.

Narcotics is the primary driver of crime and there is very good science showing that prolonged narcotics use can also damage the brain and cause people to do things they would be unlikely to do otherwise, but as you say - some people are just bad.

We have a very small percentage of Americans responsible for the vast majority of violent crime. Regardless of the causes if we incarcerated them our nation would be much better for it!

My only point was to say that things like this, which goes far beyond what we think of as “crime”, are complex. It certainly does not mean we should let people like this go or put them on the street, but it would behoove us to study the problem more and try and mitigate it whenever possible so we don’t have nightmares like this (for everybody - them and us) walking among us.

Right? I agree with everything you’re saying. However, to get too in-depth about, for example, the resources Military vets have and why they are either inadequate or not being appropriately administered, might engender needless argument. Especially if the argument was with someone with as little information as me.

Love and understanding are often doled out to those who least deserve them.

It is a sad fact that many veterans who need it the most are the ones who walk away or refuse services.

The ones you worry about the most are often those who refuse to believe anything is wrong with them - you are wrong not them.

It really is a mess but I will say that some of the nicest and most compassionate people in the world are other vets who try to help them who were able to deal with their own demons. They demonstrate the best of humanity in my book.

I’ve seen this to be the case with my own firsthand experience. Thanks a lot for your comments!

Now you're trying to bring race into this, so stop it with your nonsense.

This article is about CTE, which is now a proven brain malady amongst high contact sports athletes. Specifically the NFL and the NHL which I mentioned.

Are you claiming that CTE is a fabrication of the neurological medical community?

Just because the reporter made the article about CTE, doesn’t mean that you have to be a quisling and a supplicant and embrace the reporter’s conclusions.

My statements were clear and concise. Since you obviously want to get into a pissing contest, I’m not playing your game. So go find yourself a rope and piss up it......Sheesh!

If a boy has the athletic to play in college, waiting until being a sophomore in high school is not going to hold him back. Flag football is great for developing talent, for skill positions. 7 on 7 football is widely played for passers, receivers, backs, LBS, and defensive backs.

I don’t think anyone is absolving him for the crime due to CTE. The sad part is apparently he was asking for help and never received it. Mental illness is real and often treatable. Sad and tough deal all the way around.
