Sure. A lefty fag, or white tranny, or white woman would do something like this.
Welcome to the insanity. :P
LOL that was the deal! I remember a kid on a dirt bike getting shot in the back - the question was “could he hear the warning shot over the sound of the bike?” North of Tucson.
Straight up murder by the shooter. There was no reason to have drawn a firearm. Could have stopped the perp by tossing blocks in front and behind his scooter. Prison time since we don’t execute murderers anymore.
“No way for the cop to know if it wasn’t just a lazy fat guy who didn’t really need the scooter or was using it as cover to steal. Granted, 9 shots in the back does seem rather severe.”
Yep, I was thinking the same. We tend to default to what the media wants us to think. In this case, a poor man who cannot walk well. Well, maybe...maybe not.

That’s a fair point. I guess it all comes down to the “reasonable person” doctrine. Would a reasonable person behave as that cop did? A jury will decide, and I’m betting they’ll say no.
I get police ammo from a friend who trains officers. It’s current 9mm defense ammo and is jacketed hollow points. Dad who is long gone and NYPD carried a M&P revolver in the 40s 50s and 60s. He carried .38 soft lead round nose bullets.
Currently the military are required by international convention to carry FMJ bullets. Police departments do not and may require more frangible bullets to prevent over penetration

Hey, those scooter-riders are dangerous. When my mother-in-law was aive, she spent her last years in a swanky assisted living facility. She got in a snit with the woman who lived down the hall, and purposefully ran her down with her electric scooter. It put the poor woman in the hospital.
Like the Old people at The Villages in their golfcarts........................
I agree. I had to read several times to get the correct info. Modern journalism is crap.
If you're focusing on the mobility chair then you're just looking for an excuse to jam up the police officer because that detail is completely irrelevant. The fact that you've got hold of a mobility scooter DOES NOT prove that you're handicapped or mobility-impaired. Wally World has its own scooters available for customers and any able-bodied person could walk in off the street and hop on one in the hope of garnering a little sympathy (and leniency) as he robs the store blind. It would be asinine to ask the officer to enforce the law any differently because the CRIMINAL happened to be in a mobility chair.
And as for nine shots in the back, remember the story in 2017 about the perp who Atlantic City police shot 45 times? The entire press howled about that one ... until they saw the video. In the end, the actions of seven of the officers involved were reviewed by a Grand Jury an ZERO indictments were returned. Shot 45 times in the front, back and side (the shot that killed him struck the top of his head while he lay on his back on the ground) and all 45 shots were RIGHTEOUS.
So I'm against strapping the officer into Ol' Sparky until I've heard what he has to say. I'm not saying give him a pass, I'm saying don't jump to any conclusions until you've heard his justification.
Yes, but the post I was replying to specified the 1970s. The common options for the then ubiquitous revolvers were WC, SWC, FMJ and RNL. FMJ was rare then for police issue.
Even if perfectly healthy, he isn’t standing at the ready to charge. He has to get out of the scooter first. Tueller doesn’t apply here.
The officer could have “shot out the tires of the vehicle” /s
This cop should agree to the best plea deal he can get and plead guilty.
He has ZERO chance of winning this.
(Caveat, based on this story as presented, being accurate)
Wow sure looked like her in the body cam. My apologies to Stephanie.
Should have just shouted, “Someone get me a baseball bat. I’ll break his arms!”
Works for me.

I’m always a few minutes late...
