Every politician, any politician, who has ever run for office will, first of all, describe a grievance, a wrong, a mistake, that only he can correct that will justify his candidacy.
And so Fat Boy is describing a supposed grievance about yesterday that only he can successfully address. But the logic of his statement demands that he not even mention the grievance of yesterday that he describes as a prompt for his corrective candidacy. Fat Boy is standing on a rhetorical contradiction. His candidacy is based on a supposed grievance about yesterday.
