Drivers headed down Md. 30 in Hampstead on Hanover Pike may have noticed an eye-catching flag that uses an obscenity to assail President Joe Biden. Some people hate it, others like it. But county and state officials say there’s nothing to be done about it — it’s a perfectly legal form of free speech.
The flag that was hanging on the Hampstead home during the summer read “F--- Biden” in white letters but with a middle finger replacing the “U.” At the bottom, the flag stated “and f--- you for voting for him.” The flag that hangs now carries the same message but without the middle finger.
Carroll County officials said they received complaints about it while the owner said he received compliments. In the end, its presence is constitutional.
The flags belonged to David Shugars, who lives in the home. Shugars said during the summer that he took down the middle finger flag temporarily as a favor to his neighbor who was trying to sell their house.
He said on Tuesday the neighbor sold the house and he replaced the now worn middle finger flag with two other “F--- Biden” flags. However, he said someone ripped one of them off. He also has a banner that states “God Bless America” in red, white and blue.
“So many people have honked and yelled, ‘We love it,’ ” he said, adding they stopped to take pictures and gave thumbs-up.
But not everyone.

That sign expresses how I feel too, but I would never display a profane sign in that way. It’s in your face, and almost dares someone to stop their car and tear or burn it down.
I value where I live at too much to make it into a target of red hot anger. He’s asking for it. Be free, but be smart about it.
But it would be just fine to have that word in a book about homo-sex in the 5th grade classroom...

The time for being polite has passed us by. We need to, must be able to fight like a democrat. If not a flag then find some other way to take a stand that makes demonrats uncomfortable.
I’ve got no respect for anyone that posts obscenity in public. I don’t care if I support the sentiment. I wouldn’t like it if my family was around any of these stadiums either.
I could go for a “Let’s go Brandon” everyone knows what it means without having to teach little kids the F word.
Yes that’s exactly right. Our society is quite crude enough we don’t need to make it more so and if my kids were still little I wouldn’t be very happy if I had to drive by that sign with them in the car. On the other hand I’d cheerfully display a Let’s Go Brandon! sign

If you only watch national news and national-level politics, you’d never know that if you could carve Baltimore, Montgomery County, and Prince George County away from Maryland, Maryland would become a deep red state overnight. Don’t forget your brethren in “hostile” territory... like the local republican party officials have ... for generations.
Philadelphia was and is very much like this as well, and because of it, the Dems often have a cakewalk to statewide electoral victories. A change from 25% to 35% in party affiliation may not mean many victories outright at the local leve, but it could mean a lot more local officials getting traction and a lot of statewide victories where they weren’t otherwise possible.
Funny you should say that. I only speak for myself, but I have no use at all for those ‘Brandon’ signs. I get why people are saying it, I do. but I’d rather scream a good and loud FU Biden in the right place or post a message. I do not put anyone else down for enjoying the ‘Brandon’ fever. Go for it! I can only speak for myself.
I am not for displaying that (FU) kind of sign where children and families will walk by and see it.
I used to criticize Rappers, BLM and Antifa for not being able to make a statement without embedding it full of profanities. There are times and places for that, but not on my front door or gate. NO. That is not how I greet the world.
I don’t want to assist in the decay of our society any more than I may have done it. I can use the FU Biden when I’m online.
If Jesus in urine can be considered “art” and protected as “free speech” then eff Joe Biden, Let’s go Brandon, etc. are too.
Drove by a house the other day that was covered in “Impeach Joe Biden” and other such flags.
So the "F" word, the "SH" word, etc., are fine.

I agree....Let people use the “Let’s Go Brandon” instead if they need to express it........Though vulgarity has become common today it’s just wise to set ourselves apart from that when it comes to the political banners.

EVERYTHING is on the table, bad language, knee to the family jewels, eye gouging, throat punches, you name it.

Too nerdy and wonky. I would bet a paycheck that 75% of the population would just wonder who Brandon is.
I was at a high school sporting event this week where the kids chanted, ever so briefly, “Let’s go, Brandon.”
Thought is was hilarious, but feared they would get trouble.
