New government documents show that John Kerry’s wife, heiress of Heinz Ketchup, has millions of dollars in Chinese investments, leaving Biden’s climate change envoy facing an ethical dilemma.
Kerry’s latest filing with the Office of Government Ethics in March shows his wife benefits from an investment of “at least $1 million” in a hedge fund that specializes in private partnerships and investments with Chinese government-controlled funds, the Daily Mail reports.
Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz, is the widow of late senator John Heinz and heiress to the Heinz family fortune, which is estimated to be worth over $750 million.
Kerry often meets with Chinese leaders and diplomats to negotiate with the industrial superpower to cut deals on reducing its carbon footprint.
The former chief White House ethics lawyer under George W. Bush, Richard Painter, expressed concerns that the Chinese government could use this as a threatening tactic to pressure Kerry.
“As soon as anyone even hinted that the Chinese government would try to do anything to pull the rug from those companies if he didn’t do what they wanted, at that point it would create a problem for him under US code 208.”

So does most of the GOP. A million is nothing in investment circles - especially with the money Heinz has. I’m more concerned with a blackmailed chief executive who makes no decisions without Xi Jinping’s prior approval - and just gave them a very nice central Asian air base, for free.

Yep, when we make a big deal out of 1.4% of assets being invested passively by a third party we look like morons.
Pelosi’s IPO allocations and the insider trading highlighted by Schweitzer are far bigger scandals than this one.
So now she is “Teresa Heinz” rather than “Teresa Heinz Kerry”????
Just noting, Heinz was her married name based on her having into the Heinz family. Why would she use her deceased husband name now, rather than her current living husband? And we know she was called Teresa Heinz Kerry when John ran for president.
China figured out during the Clinton years that their money would be best served buying politicians around the world...not just in the US.
That is how China lands huge contracts for construction and rights to coal, minerals and other products.
They knew we were the most vulnerable with politicians more interested in enriching their families, friends and themselves than in doing what is best for the American citizen.
Seems kind of strange that the wife of a government official, one so high on the peck order, and the voice of Biden’s green policy, would be involved in an investment in Tibet, Tibet 5100 Water, that is causing concern with green problems from that area.
“We urge Secretary Kerry to ensure that this investment comes to an end immediately. It is unfortunate now that through this fund, Secretary Kerry’s family — knowingly or not — is supporting a Chinese business, which is exploiting a Tibetan resource and doing harm to its environment,” Alistair Currie, a spokesman for the Tibetan advocacy group Free Tibet, told TheDCNF.
A government official working on China policy told TheDCNF that “as a government official, that’s an asset that should be immediately divested.” He requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of his work.

I think that is fantastic. And I hope she gets to ride the whole thing down once the house of cards tumbles.
So, if she does, can I assume that most highly-placed democrats do too? And would that explain why the democrat party is willing to do anything the chicoms tell it to do?
Americans, by in large already support china with their retirement accounts. Nothing has helped china more than folks with 401k and investments.
With a $750 million portfolio it’s her financial advisor, not her that makes the decisions. And millions in Chinese companies isn’t very much with that pile of money.
But I’ll bet the value of those stocks are far less now than they were last year.
In a convenient twist on insider trading laws, family members of politicians are exempt. That explains how politicians get rich quick after assuming office. They get the best information on what will likely happen, and they can steer things in their favor.
I believe John Heinz was a republican. Teresa Heinz must have hated him because she took hs family fortunes and invested them in leftist causes.
Yes Heinz was a Repuyblican. His wife Teresa Heinz is a EuroTrash (Portugeese) ditz! Being a Euro she probably has more in common with Kerry then she ever did with Heinz.

According to wikipedia John Heinz and Senator John Tower were killed a day apart
in air transport crashes. And remember Ron Brown the prominent Democrat and
the new Polish President crashed in Russia. All this stuff is not by coincidence.
Who had the most to gain by Heinz’s death? Bill Gates better watch what he
flys and stays out of Fort Marcy Park.
EuroTrash Teresa is also an alcoholic. She most assuredly is not making investment decisions.
