It is also partly to distract from the rise in new COVID cases, a dismal jobs report, soaring inflation, record amounts of drugs coming across the southern border, and, of course, the chaotic and deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan that left hundreds of Americans and thousands of Afghan allies stranded under Taliban rule.

They unabashadly place their commissars in agencies they control, purge opponents and unapologetically make policy.Sadly Trump never learned to wield those levers effectively. It began with the disasterous appointment of Sessions. He failed to control the Department of Justice, State, the military and the security agencies ( FBI,CIA and NSA). He never purged his opponents and they undermined his Presidency from beginning to end.
