Not full sequencing— the “variant” is the S-Protein genomic, and unless they can match every single instance of the FULL genomic for a “new” variant— that is for the entire S-Protein encoding, it cannot be proven to do anything this “article” says it is able to do.
The natural immunity of survivors of Covid-19 is not only to the infection modality, but also to the full virion genetic component, that is, the complete code of the infection virus inserted by the mRNA in those who were infected by the virus from the virion.
They will have to have a lot more data to make broad statements about immunity.
Spanish influenza as a mutation remains in the world, and has mutated many times since. And the sequence is included in every year’s influenza formula.
We had one death in our extended family in 2020.
He had a heart attack and went into the hospital. Then he tested positive for Covid.
He died there—official cause of death Covid.
That is one reason I am _very_ skeptical of the numbers on this.

I doubt there is proof of the start of Alpha through Delta, too. The “where it comes from” is usually defined as “where was it first genome sequenced”.
Alpha, South England. Beta, South Africa. Gamma, Brazil. Delta, India. Lambda, Peru. Mu apparently Columbia.
China could have dropped each of these in each country mentioned. Pretty big conspiracy for no decent Chinese person to defect and talk. Seems unlikely.

Check this report from Microsoft news I read this morning...oh, never mind. I was going to post a link to the article, but low and behold, Microsoft (bing) news scrubbed it from the internet.
The headline was, “36 percent of Covid patients received no natural immunity after infection”.
I read it this morning and immediately called BS on the story. Now, I search for the story...GONE! These people are propagandist that only Nazi Joseph Goebbels would be proud. Throw out a headline like this, get thousands to glance at it for effect...then delete it.
So the Lambda variant came and went?
I think you’re largely right about the concept of modality of infection and how one defends. In contrast to antibody interfering with receptors and preventing ensnare of the virus floating by.
But in an over-riding way, it seems unwise to lean on and have confidence in a natural immunity process facing an unnatural, artificial virus. Odds pretty high there was no animal crossover source.

According to this BS article, if you’re vaccinated, then you’re “fully inoculated”, but if you’ve actually had Covid (meaning you have antibodies against both the spike protein AND the nuclocapsid protein), you have only acquired a degree of immunity.

The writer postulates that the seasonal flues we all have known are descendants of the 1918 flu strain, which suddenly appeared in the population. We don’t have samples before 1918 to know, but the quick spreading meant the society must have had little or no immunity to it. As we have dealt with it, we have built up better resistance through exposure.
COVID seems to have knocked the flu virus out of circulation, and maybe the 1918 flu did the same thing to whatever came before it - maybe another corona virus.
But, if you need more to worry about, what if we eradicate COVID, only to discover we now, as a society, have no resistance to an H1N1 flu stain? ... again?

There is weird stuff in the world of immunity study and immunity itself.
Tetanus. The toxin is so overwhelmingly deadly that the tiniest of amounts will kill you. If there were a natural infection, with an infection organism total so sparse that the toxin amount is smaller than tiny, smaller than the very tiny fatal amount, and you live — you’re not immune.
The amount of toxin too small to kill you is also too small to create an immune memory of it. Weird, but true. Vaccination is the only protection.

Absolutely true... the so called “vaccines” are NOT vaccines. Their claim is to inject a small segment of the S-Protein gene sequence into a person, who would then, presumably make antibodies to the very foreign proteins which would then develop in the person from this clip of genes. The theory: Make enough antibodies to the foreign proteins to take out the entire S-Protein gene sequence to possibly confound/compete with the virus’s S protein in attachment to the ACE2 receptor in lung lining cell surfaces.
The clip is from the gene sequence of the so called “original” covid S protein, and not the variants in the S-Proteins which have been detected as more “infective” like the Delta, but many other “greek letter” variants so labeled have not been more infective than Covid 19.
