Trump set the Sept 11 withdrawal date. That has been the end date for a while now. Nothing new there.
Trump wanted everybody out by May 1. And that date is significant! The Taliban would often start their summer offensives in mid-May. So the May 1 date would be before any summer offensive could be organized.
