Seriously, if you look at a map of the areas in Brooklyn that voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, you can see the Hasidic areas in red. Trump even won the more secular Russian Jewish areas of Brighton Beach and what is left of the white gentile blue collar areas of Gerritsen Beach and parts of Sheepshead Bay. Otherwise a sea of blue.

Most likely. Same thing happened in San Francisco, up to 2020. That report is just up to early 2020, so it does not show effects of Covid.

Spike Lee wrote an NY Times oped about how terrible it was for the hipsters to be driving these people out of Brooklyn.
My entire family settled in Brooklyn in the 1850-1880 time frame. When my grandparents were young, and even middle aged, Brooklyn was thriving, had newspapers, libraries, theaters, a baseball team, and many civic organizations.
That whole civilization was “de-gentrified” by the arrival of Spike Lee’s people. By the time I lived there in the 1970s life was almost unbearable. Anybody who knows what a “no radio” sign or a police lock is knows what I mean.
That the tide is running the other way is great. The saying now is that Manhattan is where you live if you can’t afford Brooklyn.
