It’s a tale of two Brooklyns.
Kings County led the city’s massive population growth over the past decade with a 9.2 percent jump — higher than any other borough, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

South Florida ghetto population increases as conservatives exit
When I lived in South Florida (1994-1997 in Boca Raton, 1999-2002 in Miami) the only Republicans I knew of any stripe were Cuban.
Hasidim,
But I don’t believe ‘em.

Was the census taken before the BLM riots & COVID lockdowns?
If so, I’d question their validity.
Good summary.
All my friends are moving. People who’ve been here for decades.
My gf likes the “beach life”. We’re at odds.she simply doesn’t see the changes yet.
When’s up guns down rolling though Lauderdale by the Sea. The beaches require CCW. IT’S ALL CHANGED.

Gentrification. Grist for the adjacent ghettos.😎
And these whites all love AOC (except the Hasidim)
Seriously, if you look at a map of the areas in Brooklyn that voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, you can see the Hasidic areas in red. Trump even won the more secular Russian Jewish areas of Brighton Beach and what is left of the white gentile blue collar areas of Gerritsen Beach and parts of Sheepshead Bay. Otherwise a sea of blue.
“Housing prices due to gentrification?”

Yup. And all those gentrified areas in Brooklyn are blue.
WGAF.
Spike Lee wrote an NY Times oped about how terrible it was for the hipsters to be driving these people out of Brooklyn.
My entire family settled in Brooklyn in the 1850-1880 time frame. When my grandparents were young, and even middle aged, Brooklyn was thriving, had newspapers, libraries, theaters, a baseball team, and many civic organizations.
That whole civilization was “de-gentrified” by the arrival of Spike Lee’s people. By the time I lived there in the 1970s life was almost unbearable. Anybody who knows what a “no radio” sign or a police lock is knows what I mean.
That the tide is running the other way is great. The saying now is that Manhattan is where you live if you can’t afford Brooklyn.
Bump
Yuppies priced out of Manhattan?
