A New Jersey inmate who was freed early because of the COVID-19 pandemic has been charged with murdering a teenager just two days after his release.
Jerry Crawford, 25, was serving time for burglary when he was let out on “public health emergency credits” to parole supervision on Nov. 4, prison officials confirmed to NJ.com Wednesday.
He has since been charged with the murder of Davion Scarbrough, 18, who was gunned down in Bridgeton on Nov. 6 — just two days after Crawford got out of South Woods State Prison, the outlet said.
He was charged alongside Yusuf Waites — who had also just gotten out of custody less than a month before the shooting.

Just once I would love to read of a situation like this where the convict kills a judges relative. Or kills a loved one of a parole board member that set him free.
Naturally I deeply regret anyone getting killed, but since these events are common and routine, there should be payback against the people who make these stupid and deadly mistakes.
Perhaps a better alternative would be that if in fact a criminal is set free and commits another crime the judges and authorities that set him free should serve out his sentence.

If the masks and social distancing were/are so effective, then there was no reason to release ANY prisoners.
This murder is on the heads of those who decided to release him. Governor Murphy, the guy who could have stopped this and the forcing of infected nursing home residents in his state back into nursing homes to infect those who were vulnerable but uninfected, is almost as big of a murderer as Cuomo.
