I have several customers/colleagues who are Asian women from China, Hong Kong.

When traveling in the USA, the Hong Kong ones are a bit more savvy and street-smart, while the mainland Chinese ones are still unfamiliar with US society, and still have “stars in their eyes” about places like NY or LA.

Every time they have travelled to New York City, they get harassed, always by blacks, mostly by women. Mostly its just rudeness/language, twice it was demands for money (one a homeless ranting, other time was a robbery)

I find myself trying to deny to them what they have experienced, blame it on homelessness or drugs, or give them American platitudes on diversity, mostly to save my own face and serve my own cognitive dissonance.

It is absolutely critical that you be brutally honest with yourself as well as others you care about...

Brutally honest.

If you are, good things will happen for you.
