One I enjoyed was BlackFive.net. It started off as a military blog, but in its final year it devolved into book reviews.
My son made it through combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was ambushed narrowly missed by roadside bombs, firefights and thank God he came back without a scratch. He’s fine mentally and no PTSD. He saw a lot of blood and guts. He’s a 40 year old man now and thinks that the PTSD is overplayed.
We have too many emotional cripples serving in the military. I served 8 years in the submarine service and we had to undergo 3 full days of intense psychological testing to ensure we had what it takes to do what’s necessary, i.e., incinerate entire populations when ordered to do so.
Neither I nor any of my former shipmates have ever had any symptoms of PTSD, even after facing death countless times. What we have in common is we were all sociopaths who were trained to kill.
The military needs to impose the same 3 day psychological testing on all its recruits, not just the submariners, to weed out those who are not fit for the role.
While some people are more affected than others PTSD has become a catchall to justify drugging every vet the stinking shrinks can get their hands on. I quit going to meetings at my local VA because the PTSD crowd wouldn’t stop trying to get me labelled and onto drugs.
I don’t have any with it at all. I have no issues with killing communists in Vietnam. Communists are 5he scum of the Earth and deserve no human rights. War sucks and no one should have to engage in it. Unfortunately the world is full of evil and if you don’t face up to it you actually help it.
