The city of Sydney announced on Saturday that they will begin a two-week lockdown this week due to a surge in COVID-19 Delta variant cases, Reuters reported on Monday.
Health officials said that parts of the city were already locked down due to the outbreak, saying cases and exposure sites are rapidly increasing.
The lockdown will include parts of the Australian state of New South Wales and their three regions, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, and Wollongong.

Son’s biz has web meetings every other night with an associate in Sydney. The Aussie said the government is requiring everyone have the COVID tracking app on their phone and only allowing travel just a few miles away from home. This guy was eating in an outdoor cafe when the police arrived and checked all the customer’s addresses to make sure they were within the allowed travel distance.
