Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday on Tuesday defended putting Ibram X. Kendi’s book How to Be an Anti-Racist on the Navy’s list of books every United States sailor should read, under grilling from Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN) at a House hearing.
Banks, a U.S. Navy reservist, began by asking Gilday if he agreed with Kendi’s past statements and views in his book that Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett is a “white colonizer” because she adopted two children from Haiti, and that capitalism is essentially racist.
Gilday responded, “Here’s what I know, Congressman. There’s racism in the United States Navy.”
Banks cut off Gilday, “It’s a yes or no question, Admiral. Admiral, you recommended that every sailor in the United States Navy read this book.”
Gilday responded, “I’m not forcing anybody to read the book. It’s on a recommended reading list.”
Banks then asked Gilday if he read the book, to which Gilday confirmed, “I did.”
Banks asked Gilday if he agreed with Kendi’s statements that white people are a different breed of humans and are responsible for the AIDS virus.
Gilday responded: “Sir, I’d have to understand the context in which the statements were made. I’m not going to sit here and defend cherry-picked quotes from somebody’s book. This is a bigger issue than somebody’s book. What this is really about is trying to paint the United States military, and in this case, the United States Navy is weak, as woke. … We are not weak.”
Banks responded, “Admiral, I remain astonished that you put this book on a reading list and recommended that every sailor in the United States read it. I’m also surprised that you said you read it.”

The Navy is being prepared to lose the next war against China and to win the Democrats war against the American people. .
It is going to take a decade or more to unwind the damage that has been done, if it’s possible at all.
We have been repeatedly told that only those with power can be racist. It would seem that when the Admiral claims there is racism in the Navy, he is speaking of himself personally. He should resign or implement an Adm. Boorda solution.

There’s nothing “stupid” about it - other than the useful idiots they recruit.
It’s calculated, well crafted, carefully thought out subversion, snd they’ve played the game well. They positioned their people in all the necessary places and NO ONE stopped them - all of the alphabet agencies have been weaponized against Americans, and now they’re trying to weaponize the military against us well.

It became a taxpayer-funded jobs programs for “historically oppressed” people to maintain the façade of assimilation and a viable minority middle class.
I don't need to read it to get the whole context and make a judgement on the nature of this book and the people who advocate it.
The fact that the material in it fully codifies and is proudly described as Critical Race Theory by its advocates and author is enough to make a decision. I waited for nearly a year to get Alinsky's Rules for Radicals back when Obama came to power, and I forced myself to read it. That was enough. I am not wasting my time reading racist pap like "How to Be an Anti-Racist" written by a racist and trumpeted by racists.
Leftists are just fine with the cognitive dissonance of ostensible anti-racists pushing an racist book (because Leftism is demonstrably the ideology of racism, racism being part and parcel of Leftism) But that is because Leftism is a mental illness.

This is like recommending everyone read a book like "Mein Kampf" as a spiritual, behavioral, or ideological guide, then getting upset because someone points out that one of the key underpinnings of the books is racism and threats of genocide.

Sure. There was racism in the Navy when I was in. And there was racism before I was in. There is racism now. And there will be racism in the future.
But the US Navy is not racist.
There are indeed people in the US Navy who are racist. But there are racists in all walks of life, including at least half the House, the Senate, and the current Administration. There are racist doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
But the US Navy was not racist. Anyone who has served in the last sixty years knows this. The US military was not racist. But with the current policies, it sure is now.

I don’t get his connection - the US Navy is not WEAK and so needs to read about “how to be an anti racist.” Are all the dots connected in this guy? There are bodies in the Biden administration with barely functioning brains and yet they are on OUR payroll.

Yes, people need to stop having a dismissive attitude. This isn’t stupid, it’s entirely malicious and they’re purging the military before your eyes. They want a military who will be willing to kill as many conservative Americans in Merrick Garland’s domestic War on Terror with no qualms.
They have totally lost focus on winning wars. There are only so many hours per day. I send books to my SIL who is in the 82nd. He is an avid reader. He tries to read when he is in the field, but that goes slow because he is working so much and has little time. Plus when he has time he’s dead tired. My point being, with limited time you need to be extra selective about what you read. You can either fill your mind with garbage, something that pertains to work, or something entertaining. A recommended reading list should include things like Sun Tsu and Clausewitz. My SIL has been through those tomes long ago. I’ve recently sent my SIL “The River War - A reconquest of Sudan” by Churchhill and “Green Hills of Africa” by Hemmingway. (He dreams of going of Sarfari in Africa). Not a politically correct or woke word in either book.

Oh yes. What we have seen since 2008 is in no way malicious.
It is being pushed by people within and without this country and government who are ideological enemies to the principles this country was founded on.
It is not stupidity, and it is not an accident.
The military purge has been going on since 2008, but the Leftist indoctrination and takeover of institutions such as Media, Entertainment, and Education have been going on, full bore by the Left, for more than 90 years beginning in the Roosevelt Era.
Unfortunately a lot of people are going to die before this insanity gets reversed.....

Not light reading, but it sure is what he is fighting against, or...should be.
Before this decade is out the US military will be ordered to fire on US citizens... and will do so.
