Its a paradox, but “academics” are often the most ideological, vicious and stupid people you will ever meet.
Americans are firm believers in the cult of “scientism” which makes “scientists” somehow greater than mere mortals.
Our country is hollowed out by corruption. It’s pervasive.
But, since the schools and the media were corrupted long ago, a large number of citizens are walking around thinking everything is fine. They are constantly told that everything is fine, so that means everything is fine. Right?

No, Redfield knew and spoke out about universal masking to reduce severity of virus and deaths. But more importantly to build natural immunity and a quick end to pandemic. Such a policy would also have reduced most needs for the great shutdown.

It is about money. He was costing these scientists money and they in turn were killing people by telling lies about known nearly free medicine that would save lives.
That is one reason leftist ideas like "systemic racism" take hold on college campuses. In that environment and among the liberals inhabiting it there actually is systemic racism, bigotry, elitism and prejudice in some places.
Creating privilege and keeping great numbers of people from being able to succeed more easily is one job of many academic institutions. Why else would elite universities and colleges seek to limit the number of students they educate?
