Former President George W. Bush said immigration should be “dear to all religious people” and immigrants should be viewed with a “loving eye” during a conversation Thursday with Southern Baptist ethicist Russell Moore and American Enterprise Institute's Yuval Levin.
“It depends on where you start your philosophy from,” the 74-year-old Bush, who served as the 43rd president of the United States from 2001 to 2009, said.
“I start mine from ‘all lives are precious, and we’re all God’s children.’ … If that’s how you view immigration, then you don’t view them with a hostile eye. You view them with a loving eye. And a loving eye doesn't mean tearing down a border wall. [It] means treating people with respect.”
The George W. Bush Institute, National Immigration Forum and the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention hosted the panel discussion titled “Immigrants and the American Future.”

Of course, if GEORGE wants to welcome invaders into his own home, that is fine with me. But I'll be he has Secrete Service protection at his home. Unlike mine - and mine is closer to the border.
I'm also sick of this religious push from the SBC to justify law-breaking. Does "Southern Baptist ethicist Russell Moore" ever hike in places where there are signs telling you armed escorts of illegals may be in the area? Does he need to carry a gun in self-defense due to illegal immigration?
And notice NONE OF THEM discuss the whole "illegal" part! I adopted kids from overseas. LEGALLY. Took three years of paperwork before they became US citizens. Both served in the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. But we did it LEGALLY!

BTW, I hear no one saying this: It is diabolical, on every level, for ANY U.S. administration to tempt away the young people of another country. Offering amnesty and other goodies is repugnant. These countries need their young people.

W is correct if he means, my loving eye is respectfully looking thru the slats of the border wall at the people. I will given them all the respect and loving eyes they want. They just need to stay on their own eff'n side of the wall.

Well I’ve read the catechism on this. It states, reasonably, that Illegal immigration is sinful on both parts. The perpetrator must not transverse sovereign country borders. That one cannot morally use and abuse the resources of a foreign country. As well the governing officials of the country being invaded must enforce sovereignty. It must preserve resources for the country it has been entrusted with

If it is true that God destroyed the whole world in a flood, and I think it is, then the “God loves everyone” idea is a shallow theology built on picking a few verses and not applying them to the entire Bible. Love without Justice is not Love.
