Senior presidential adviser Anita Dunn said on Sunday that the unpredictable nature of the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible for the Biden administration to say for certain whether or not schools could be reopened this fall.
During an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," host Jake Tapper asked Dunn for clarification on the administration's stance on school reopenings, noting that President Biden had said in an interview that schools should probably reopen by the fall.
Dunn responded by pointing to the 80 percent of teachers who had received a vaccine so far.
"If you recall, a couple of months ago, the president made the announcement that we were going to have a special supply of vaccine dedicated precisely for this reason. Now, he said probably. He didn't say absolutely," Dunn said.
"But, given the science, if the vaccination program in this country proceeds, if people do go get their vaccines — he does believe that schools should be able to reopen in September, and reopen safely, following the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] guidelines," Dunn added. "But he said probably. He did not say absolutely, because we have all seen this since, unfortunately, January of 2020. It's an unpredictable virus.
"We can't look in a crystal ball and say what September looks like," Dunn said.

Schools have been reopened in Indiana and Florida for almost a year.
Down here in NC - even with a D Gov - our schools are open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday is a remote homework day.

Friends and I just yesterday were sitting having coffee together, like we’ve done every Sunday morning even during last year, chatting about the supply chain issues and the likely impact we’ll start seeing very soon.
Covid? More lockdowns and shutdowns were not even a consideration. The fact Dunn is not being forthcoming? Yeah, something’s already up and we’d do well to figure it out and get out in front of it.

Republicans control the NC legislature 69 to 51 in the House and 28 to 21 in the Senate. They were just one vote shy of overriding Roy Cooper’s veto to strip him of emergency powers. My guess is that this scared him enough to finally relent in to (mostly) opening the public schools. Even then, he only relented a couple of months ago. Prior to that we had some of the least open schools in the country.
This country is going to snap. Depending where you are, life is going to be hell. The Left is not going to let go.
It’s an opportunity to educate the kids properly instead of allowing the leftist teachers to poison them against American culture. Homeschool.

Biden would be correct if he said the thought schools should reopen. Here in Western New York, ours have been open for months. Most schools do remote lessons at least one day per week while the schools cleaned. Our biggest question at the moment is how the state Regents Exams will be administrated. Both my wife and daughter are teachers. They have been adapting to changes in the system all year.
Are we all going to get Covid again this summer?
Is it the neverending disease we get every year until we all die from it?
