The Department of Justice is investigating whether they will now charge Derek Chauvin over a 2017 incident where he knelt on a black 14-year-old boy's neck for nearly 17 minutes.

A source told ABC News that the Justice Department is probing whether to now bring federal charges against Chauvin for the 2017 arrest and the one involving Floyd.

Federal prosecutors had witnesses testify before a grand jury two months ago regarding the 2017 incident.

The DOJ probe is still ongoing and the Minneapolis Police Department recently was briefed on it.

Chauvin, who is white, has never faced any charges over the 2017 arrest.

"Beating suspects with a flashlight was approved behavior? Really?"

No kneeling. But I'm sure flashlight beatings are approved under the right conditions. They give night sticks to them. I don't think they are just for pointing.

It will never be good enough for this ravenous lynch mob.

By the way, you do realize they’re lynching ALL US white Americans, don’t you?

See post 46. It looks like they will never stop at trying to persecute Chauvin.

I imagine the IRS is going to come after him next. Investigate his part time jobs.

In 1995 “dead beat dads” were in the news: https://www.deseret.com/1995/8/29/19190181/clinton-defends-deadbeat-law The FBI dealt with this national security threat head on, heroically and decisively, all the way until 9-11.

I remember that now. There were “wanted” posters up with the various amounts owned by each man for alimony. Meanwhile, terrorists were attending flight training in this country and practicing dry runs. Thanks, FBI!

It probably would not have prevented his death, but it would have prevented the four officers from being prosecuted for it.

All officers can do is best practices. Expecting best practices is a reasonable expectation, imo. However, best practices will not always prevent deaths and I don’t know if Floyd’s death was preventable.

I remember reading back last year right after this happen that Chauvin had multiple complaints or disciplinary actions against him.

As I understand it, had Chauvin chosen to testify, these things and almost everything else, would be fair game for the prosecution to ask about.

Hey DOJ

How about investigating Maxine Waters for inciting a riot and other hate crimes?

How about investigating Comey and Obama for espionage on a presidential candidate?

How about investigating Clinton for Title 18 crimes?

How about investigating Hunter Biden for his various ‘alleged’ crimes?

How about investigating the ‘big guy’ for using tax dollars to bribe Ukraine to take the heat off of his son?

How about investigating all of the fraud that occurred in the 2020 election? What about all of the sworn affidavits regarding that election?

It is sad how lawless the DOJ has become and how political it has become!

I keep hearing about the good men and women who work in the DOJ but I have yet to see any of them step forward to call a halt to the lawlessness within!!!

Amy Klobuchar’s name will have to buried as Chauvin had other charges and complaints leveled against during her reign as Hennepin County atty........

] After the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis Police custody, Klobuchar was criticized for her lack of prosecution of police misconduct during her tenure, including a case involving the officer, Derek Chauvin, accused of murdering Floyd. The case was not heard until after she left office.[26][27][28]

So the guy did not die after 17 minutes?
Floyd died after 9 minutes. The cause of death was him swallowing the fentanyl.

The officer can bring that up at his retrial.

“The officer can bring that up at his retrial.”

When is the retrial?

Will the same defense attorney be doing the jury selection?

Just in case he wins appeal. They are going to destroy him.

His police department was apparently OK with how he handled it in 2017. It sounds more like the DOJ is looking into the police department over this incident, not Chauvin.

Of course not - every city where BLM and Antifa are screaming about police brutality has been under one-party Democrat control for decades.

If this is behavior acceptable at the department, all management should be fired, maybe even sent to jail,
