(Reuters) - Ecuadorean banker Guillermo Lasso unexpectedly won the nation's presidency on promises to revive an economy battered by coronavirus as his rival's vows of a return to socialist largesse failed to win over a skeptical electorate.

Lasso took 52% of the vote in the runoff following a campaign that pitted free market economics against the social welfare plans of economist Andres Arauz, a win likely helped by a ballot spoiling campaign that left one in six ballots void.

Watch the Marxists in the US and European media paint President Lasso as a ‘racist, right-wing extremist’ who has to be overthrown by foreign military force.

I’m guessing they have one voting day, people need to register, and they need an ID to vote in Ecuador.

We need to form a League of Democracies. MFN to all. Get rid of the UN. A security council made up of the US, GB, Aus/NZ. Throw in Singapore or Japan. Individual states swinging back and forth need stability. Those that can’t join will either have riots or storm the border.

the socialist Arauz was a puppet for communist authoritarian former president Rafael Correa who is in exile in Belgium. The Correa fanatics are no doubt depressed.

. . . revive an economy battered by coronavirus as his rival's vows of a return to socialist largesse . . .

There, fixed it.

This is a pleasant surprise. I thought the siren song of socialism and free money handouts would have won the day.

But can they get a bottle of water when they are standing in line to vote?

“ I’m guessing they have one voting day, people need to register, and they need an ID to vote in Ecuador.”

I spent a couple months wandering about in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru. The people seemed nice enough, but there were many areas where only Quechuan was spoken, so I didn’t get to communicate much. In the more rural areas people live in small villages in more traditional manners. No TVs or running water, herd goats and live in stone shelters for months at a time. My only regret was not learning the local language, these people were very knowledgeable about their environment, but this trip as most of my international travel was a last minute seizing of an opportunity so I went with no plan or preparation. Knowing now these people possess the intelligence to obtain IDs makes me regret the hastiness of that trip and not immersing myself in Quechuan beforehand

Dominion Voting Systems underestimated the requisite margin-of- cheating again.

A lot of American expats in Ecuador. When I was looking for places to retire overseas it was rated as the #1 place in the world because of climate, access to health care, cost of living, etc.

Those fine people, living in remote areas and primitive conditions, are able to get voter ID cards. But for spoiled Americans who navigate the welfare system with ease and buy contracts to use their smart phones, it’s just too hard for them to get a voter ID card.

If anyone knows, the article mentions a ballot spoiling campaign but doesn’t explain how it worked. It does say it was waged by a third candidate who didn’t make the runoff. So did this candidate encourage people to vote for him even though he wasn’t on the ballot?

The opposition is waiting for the votes from Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia before they concede... 😀

What percentage of the DEAD voted for the opposition? 😀

I guess the opposition wants a recount, since the Dominion machines didn't change votes... 😀

Did Biden get 80 million votes there? 😀

“a win likely helped by a ballot spoiling campaign that left one in six ballots void.”

A win likely helped by timely uncovering ballot fraud, and preventing fake ballots from being counted.
