First Lady Jill Biden was mocked and criticized on Wednesday afternoon after a botched attempt to speak Spanish. Video of her failed attempt to speak a foreign language then drew attention to a controversial-looking flag that was behind her.
Jill Biden made the remarks during an event speaking to farmworkers on the birthday of Cesar Chavez, a left-wing labor leader and activist who had a history of making bigoted remarks toward immigrants.
“It’s ‘Si se puede’ (Yes you/we can) not ‘Si se pwadueh,'” RGA Deputy Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez, who is fluent in Spanish, tweeted. “I can’t even imagine what word she was trying to say. Seriously why even try pandering if you’re going to butcher it and not practice before?!”

I am consistently terrified of speaking either French or Spanish despite years of schooling in both languages, because native speakers are going to pick apart the linguistics like I would for English. If you don’t have ANY background, you better sit with someone who’s patient and honest and practice, practice, practice, because the world is always watching in some way.

It's incredibly patronizing to treat Spanish-speaking people as if they are incapable of being responsible, conscious actors in their own lives, the subjects of their own sentences. Freep you, Jill Biden.
They’re not even trying to hide their ambitions anymore. It’s as obvious as the nose on our faces.
For all these multi-culty types who took plain basic high school Spanish, or Spanish 101 in college...it’s best not to use these marginal talents to demonstrate anything much. Professor Jill ought to stick to supervising Joe.
So? What about Melania’s accent? Her accent was so funny. I don’t even think Spanish is one of the five languages she’s fluent in.
Did she teach Spanish?
For some reason, I don’t believe Jill Biden’s “doctorate” is in Spanish.
I had 2 years HS Spanish and can say “Vamos a la biblioteca!”.
So, If I’m in a Spanish speaking country and need to go to the library I’ve got it covered!..........................

The few times I’ve attempted to order food in Spanish the counter person was always gracious and gently corrected my grammar.
