Trump voters blast Fauci as 'self-serving', 'liar', want doctors to deliver vaccine message: Frank Luntz
Fox News ^ | 3/18/21 | Charles Creitz

Trump voters are more likely to trust doctors than politicians when it comes to the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine, but don't want to hear from White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, pollster Frank Luntz told "Special Report."

Luntz told host Bret Baier he conducted a focus group last weekend with 19 Trump voters from across the nation, most of whom expressed "real concern, doubt, if not distrust of Anthony Fauci and what he has to say."

"I have tuned him out, frankly, I have no opinion anymore," respondent Doug from California told Luntz. Other members of the focus group described the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director as a "liar," a "puppet," and a "flip-flopper", as well as "inconsistent" and "self-serving."

"They've given up on him because he keeps changing the goal posts. He keeps changing his mind," said Luntz, who added that "I don't want to undercut Dr. Fauci's credibility, but among Trump voters he has none."

Impressions of the vaccine among the focus group member ranged from calling it “a miracle, albeit suspicious” to “unproven”, “rushed,” and “scary, not knowing the long-term side effects.”

“The one group least likely to take this vaccine are Trump voters, particularly younger Trump voters,” Luntz explained. “And it’s going to take an appeal from the medical community, from the doctors themselves, face to face with their patients, giving the vaccines in the doctor’s office rather than these mass [vaccination] sites. That’s going to move people, and they’ve got to be moved if we’re going to get to herd immunity.

The pollster added that a public service announcement featuring past U.S. presidents urging the public to get vaccinated had no effect on his respondents.

“Trump voters want to hear the science. They want to hear the medicine. They want to hear from doctors. They do not want to hear from previous presidents.”

Over the weekend, the @deBeaumontFndtn and I hosted a focus group with 20 vaccine-hesitant Trump voters.

Nearly all said they had more fears about the COVID vaccine than they did about COVID.

While I certainly agree it the conclusions presented, 19 people?
Really?

Does Luntz want this taken seriously or not?

That’s for a focus group. Isn’t that a large number for a focus group? If he was just trying to poll Trump voters I agree it would not be a good number. See the linked video in my previous post.

Okay. Thanks.

That’s fair I guess, but 19 seems like such a small group even
for a focus group, I’m not sure of the real value.

If they had 19 Democrats on there, would we be convinced
by their views as it applies to the whole of the Democrat
voters?

Fauci 0-19 in support in Luntz’s group. Anything less than half is not good. If he had any credibility he would have gotten support by sime, but he didn’t get even 1 person to support him. This is eye-opening. Fauci isn’t just disliked on FR. It’s everywhere.

When half the population has that point of view, "conspiracy theory" is harder excuse to peddle.

All the better for Fauci to keep us locked up.

Gee Frank, you needed a focus group to extract that shocker?

You don't have to worry about undercutting his credibility...he's done that to himself pretty well.

In my recent semi-annual check up my dr tried to tell me that the vaccine would be more effective against the China flu and even offer some protection against its variants than the antibodies I have from having covid last fall. It was hard to keep a straight face and not ask how covid mitigates two years of immunology doctrine and facts. I let him continue his speech and said I’ll pass. But I took it and have had no ill effects he said. I said if nothing has fallen off you after five years I’ll think about it and he let it lay.

Having caught and fully recovered from COVID myself, I fully concur. Even if Trump had stayed president, this is all a rushed job with no medical track record over a virus which was easily treated with HCQ and Zinc. Whether I refuse to take it may come down to the social consequences but I have signed up or lined up to take it and have no plans to take it anytime soon even though I technically qualify in the higher risk groups.

Besides, the one think you can't deny is that these vaccines are always chasing last year's virus, not the next one. That was the problem with flu shots - they were always treating last year's flu, not the new one.

Besides, I am trying to pay close attention to who is making the vaccine, from which country is it being made from and what is the death rate of each different vaccine being offered. I've already crossed some companies off my list because I don't have any reason to think they are safe.
