Democrats’ $1.9 Trillion ‘COVID Relief’ Bill Includes $86 Billion in Pension Bailouts

Tucked inside the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill that cleared the Senate on Saturday is an $86 billion aid package that has nothing to do with the pandemic.

Rather, the $86 billion is a taxpayer bailout for about 185 union pension plans that are so close to collapse that without the rescue, more than a million retired truck drivers, retail clerks, builders and others could be forced to forgo retirement income.

The bailout targets multiemployer pension plans, which bring groups of companies together with a union to provide guaranteed benefits. All told, about 1,400 of the plans cover about 10.7 million active and retired workers, often in fields like construction or entertainment where the workers move from job to job.

Have any Unions ever fulfilled their pension obligations without eventually being taken over by the PBGT?? It seems to me we hear this every 5-10 years about Union Pensions going Bankrupt.

Can i ask a stupid question? Why are we bailing out pension funds? Were these funds mismanaged if they are running short of money to pay promised benefits? If so how is that the responsibility of all of us taxpayers?

makes sense. his former master’s “auto bailout” didn’t bail out the auto industry, it bailed out the auto unions.

Hey, it’s not the Union leadership that are responsible here...I’m certain the blame lies squarely with all the racism, misogyny, homophobia, and capitalism America is infected with.

And since you’re guilty of all of that...you must pay.

the RAT unions buy the RAT politicians, then when needed, the RAT politicians bail out the RAT unions as in the $86 billion is a taxpayer bailout for about 185 union pension plans that are so close to collapse that without the rescue, more than a million retired truck drivers, retail clerks, builders and others could be forced to forgo retirement income.

the RAT circle of life...

This administration loves to give the unions a big wet kiss.

Union people were getting a bit restless. I guess this takes
care of that.

California should be thrilled.

The far largest concern is total Democrat control. They’re showing how to ruin a country.
