Cancel culture becomes dangerous when it can be weaponized against someone — and it looks as though that’s exactly what happened to John Schnatter.
The Papa John’s Pizza founder was forced to step down from his role as company pitchman and CEO for using a racial slur during a May 2018 conference call.
At that time of the call, Schnatter was already in the left’s crosshairs and smeared as a racist for his outspoken objections to the NFL brass allowing players to kneel for the national anthem.
Apparently Jason Stein, Laundry Service CEO at the time, “began to discuss how Mr. Schnatter’s statements on the call could be used against him to damage his image so ‘he gets f***ing sent out to pasture on this s***” (in Stein’s words),” the complaint reads.
“The plan, according to the recorded conversation, was to arrange for Mr. Schnatter to have an hour-long live interview with a hostile media personality and prompt Mr. Schnatter to make damaging statements which need ‘to be viral.'”

I guess the CEO that set up Papa John is close friends with James Comey, given that he folloed the exact same plan to set up an innocent man.
Sue the pants off of them.
As an aside, if you hire a PR firm to aid you in improving your public image and they go out of their way to destroy it, including using lies and leaks against you, that firm needs to be crushed like a bug underfoot. Papa John needs to end up owning that firm so he can fire everyone but only after cancelling their pension plans and their golden parachutes.
I hope that Papa John is given full ownership of the Pizza Chain as settlement of the lawsuit. Then he can “cancel” the board members. We need to start ‘cancelling” the Cancellors”...
His pizza still sucks, better suck, Pappa Johns...
They cancelled him, so I cancelled them.
I was a regular customer, and big tipper, too, but I quit buying their pizza because of what they did to him, bless their hearts.
Not his pizza no more.
Time for the hitmen
Yeah. Pizza needs to come from the NY Tri state area or perhaps Chicago (never got pizza there) and from private, non chain operations. .
Massive lawsuit!!!
What happened is bad enough. The apparent fact that it was done in coordination with media coverage should really increase the outrage over this.
We live in a culture the KGB could only have dreamed about.
It'd be a damn shame if Hyperice and The Springhill Company and Front Office Sports and Transmit and eegee's felt like they were left holding the bag if your vulture capital company has to pay Schnatter $6M plus treble damages.
Yeah, that would be a shame if all those companies found out about your deliberate corporate malfeasance when you subverted your client Mr. Schnatter. Gosh.
Jason Stein, Laundry Service CEO at the time, “began to discuss how Mr. Schnatter’s statements on the call could be used against him to damage his image so ‘he gets f***ing sent out to pasture on this s***” (in Stein’s words),” the complaint reads.
He brought back 2 pizzas from the most famous pizzaria in the city.
Completely inedible.
I can see why they shoot each other.
Don't kid your self. We now have a culture much like that, that the KGB managed for decades.
I’m supposed to fly to Chicago to buy a pizza?
Somebody recently told me that the water in those locations is responsible for the superior pizzas.
Lead is said to have a flavor, hence the reason kids were teething on painted window sills?
