The unconstitutionality argument is a technicality. No need to hear the case because... A bit like the "no standing" drops in November and December. Karma, eh? The only minor problem with the unconstitutionality argument is John Quincy Adams made a compelling moral case (but not a legally binding one) for lifelong deference to the threat of Impeachment. He asserted in his letters that he saw no statute of limitations on Impeachment. And I actually respect that opinion. What he was saying is, if he's privileged enough to be President, he remains accountable for the actions he took as President until his own death. After all, what more can you do to keep a President honest than say the lifelong benefits of being a former POTUS are contingent on you not doing anything impeachable as President? I'd hold any President in much higher regard if they said, as he did, that they would willingly submit to an impeachment and defend their record even if impeached after leaving the White House. In a way, I'm disappointed that Trump chose to snub the impeachment. A lot of us wanted him to testify to the steal. Instead he's got two C-list understudies roped in at short notice, arguing that the charges are moot because he's left the White House and is no longer claiming he's POTUS. Perhaps he's happier playing golf and sorting out his permanent residence. But I'd rather he was swinging his moral clubs in the Capitol. 'Gorgeous' George Galloway might be a loony leftist but boy, he's fearless. He took the stand when he didn't have to... and tore a new one out of the court. Dee Snider vs Congress was another masterclass in speaking truth to ridiculous moral panics, abuses of power, and pricking pomposity. It would've been awesome to see Trump enter the "sticking it to the snowflakes" hall of fame, alongside those guys and many others who've exposed the pettiness and hypocrisy of the ruling class by bearding them in their own den.

Your argument has reason but, in my opinion, not Constitutional validity.
