Same here. In most rural communities where I live you are considered middle class if you make $40,000 a year. If you make $100,000 a year you are considered wealthy. You’d think people making six figures would be smart enough to save some of it for emergencies instead of living in a house they can’t afford and driving vehicles they can’t afford.

The obvious way to “beat the system” is to live in a low cost area.
The issue I have with lowering the income limit is that it’s based on 2019 income. Like the woman in the article, a lot of people (millions) took a hit in their 2020 income.

in some cities 100k barely stretches enough to make it paycheck to paycheck. In denver an average home will cost you 450k and average rent for a one bedroom is 1400/month. That’s in the city. The burbs with a decent standard of living will cost you more
