Here is very, very strong evidence from Steve Hilton that the United States National Institutes of Health, run by Francis Collins and Anthony Fauci provided funding for the Communist Chinese to conduct "gain of function" research on deadly viruses, that resulted in what we have now.

QUESTION: What was the MOTIVE behind the NIH’s funding the research into the virus?
Surely it isn’t in order to develop a bio-weapon. Maybe the intent was to develop a cure but the Chinese had other plans.

Yes.
The only rational motive would be to develop vaccines and treatments in parallel. It could be they did that but I doubt it. Even Obama was smart enough to shut down the U.S. funding. Research that could result in the death of the human race would only make sense to an idiot like Fauci.
It's a young year but this story ought to be on the front pages of every paper and website for the rest of the year.

A big point in Hilton’s report is that Obama had in 2014 requested that support for this research be stopped, but Fauci and that tall white haired doctor apparently continued anyway.
Several months late.
The immediate cause for funding the Wuhan operation was that so-called “gain-of-function” viral manipulation was outlawed in the U.S. But why Fauci & Co. were so keen on continuing this illegal experimentation is anyone’s guess. And still no reporter has thought to ask Fauci how many times he’s visited Wuhan.

I don’t know, isn’t it possible to develop these gain of functions (to study possible mutations) IN ORDER to develop cures for them?
Now, the next question becomes - Did these “gain of function” research proceed with America’s NIH’s knowledge?
