I expect to see at least one picture of Gal Gadot posted here. Folks, don’t disappoint me!

I’m not a fan of the super hero genre, but my wife said it is unwatchable.

[Can I tell you about more dumbfounding stuff? Wonder Woman wishes for her dead boyfriend to come back to life, and he does, in the person of Chris Pine, who’s the best thing in the movie. He’s been gone since World War I, and so the world of 1984 fills him with awe — especially when she takes him into the subway and he marvels at the train coming through.]

The subway existed before WWI. You’d think the Pine character would expect people to be commuting to work by air. I bet plenty of people who grew up with the Jetsons on TV back in the 60’s thought we’d be flying from our homes to the grocery store and everywhere else by now.

They just had a lousy story line. The character of Stagg came from the comic, but the story just fell flat, especially the unbelievable end. If they were going to pull from the comic, lots better stories. Glad I didn’t pay theater prices.

WW84 is a fascinating movie and really a perfect vehicle for the era in that so many different people can focus their wokeness, triggers, and gripes on the movie and claim that their own particular gripe is the singular worst thing about the movie.

From the “wonder woman raped a guy” trope, to the fashion, to various aspects of air flight, to the indignity of allowing an Israeli actress to touch Arab children and oh so much more. Every twitter addict who hates the movie is so eager to showcase their ideology and WW84 lets every one of them be right. It’s a masterpiece of failure. If only it were a halfway good movie.

I am reminded a bit of the historic ignorance in the awful Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull movie--which came out in 2008.

It was filled with anti-anti-Communist tripe--and a terrible faux pas in geography. When Indy is packing to leave the university after the KGB tried to abduct him and his son, he is asked by Marcus Brody where he will go. Indy responds that he is going to go teach at the University of Leipzig.

Leipzig was located in East Germany.

I realized that the screen writers simply had no real grounding in the actual Cold War.

Did they include all those celebrities without makeup singing Imagine to us peons in the movie soundtrack?

As the article says, HBO is streaming it for free. That’s the only positive thing I can say, having watched it

Anyone seen the low budget “Wishmaster” movie series. Well the plot in this movie looks like it came from there.

As awful and dreadful as Hollywood is, they sink to the bottom when they remake old shows or try to re-enact previous historic time periods; especially when some of us were there and coming of age. I expected that movie to have six times the normal woke garbage.

It isn’t new. In the actual year 1984, NBC made a show called “Family Ties” that featured a young protagonist who was supposedly a conservative. So he worshipped Richard Nixon, and never mentioned President Reagan, the immensely popular archetype of real conservatism. The Gipper was going to win 49 states that year. Bottom line is Hollywood just plain sucks.

WW 2020 is so woke that you get surgical gowns, gloves , masks and booties to sit in the theatre. The whole film is so woke it drips out of the ducted AC as it plays.

It took just a few hours to get the full film copied and onto the pirate boards, and noone ( compared to other releases ) is downloading it.

Watch this studio and the rest of hollywood start screaming for Covid relief funding in the Billions to help support the starving actors etc...Again.

As an aside, Howard the Duck was and is an Epic Adult movie that presented huge amounts of social taboos and traditions to help them be thought of.

It was way ahead of it’s time, and what you don’t see in it is PC wokeness.

HD did not go woke, so it remains a cultural classic.

WW and let’s see, oh, Dr Who which they have killed off totally, opps, the doctor is now called by fans globally as Dr. Karen... Go woke, go broke.

Sometimes we just have to call cr*p out for what it is, and people have found that they don’t have to put up with the woke cr*p any longer.

Regards

The movie was just bad on every level. You don’t expect the best acting ever in a superhero movie but this movie... it was just so unbelievably BAD. The story was bad. The characters bad. All the dialog was cringe bad. The plot was incoherent as heck. The villain and ALL the supporting cast including her boyfriend were soulless and terrible to watch and you just wanted to fast forward to the couple of action bits and then turn it off.

The previews were GOOD. It was projecting a 1984 romp version of WW 1917. All they had to do was use the same formula as the first movie and make generous use of the 80’s in the same way Ready Player One did and they would have had a megahit.

I don’t even know what the heck the movie I just watched even was and I agree with the comments about Howard the Duck. It really was working hard at being grouped with it.

The the intro with the game when she was a girl seemed like it was made for a different movie script and budget... then everything got canned and something was salvaged from a dead project.

It just... all of it... everything after the intro was so bad.

She is ridiculously gorgeous, but that movie was just a lumpy mess of idiocy. It was ghastly.
