[Can I tell you about more dumbfounding stuff? Wonder Woman wishes for her dead boyfriend to come back to life, and he does, in the person of Chris Pine, who’s the best thing in the movie. He’s been gone since World War I, and so the world of 1984 fills him with awe — especially when she takes him into the subway and he marvels at the train coming through.]

The subway existed before WWI. You’d think the Pine character would expect people to be commuting to work by air. I bet plenty of people who grew up with the Jetsons on TV back in the 60’s thought we’d be flying from our homes to the grocery store and everywhere else by now.

#5: "The subway existed before WWI."

Anyone who has seen Gary Cooper in Sergeant York will remember Alvin York's fascination when fellow soldier "Pusher" (played by George Tobias) explains to him that subway trains run underground.
