Some of them look like my Lifetime 8 x 10 shed. And a lot(most) of the folks "in charge" of this don't understand the "homeless". A lot of them don't want to be housed in these or anything else provided by "the man" because then they are "in the system". And a lot of them want nothing to do with the "system". And these days, that's easy to understand. The article links to 'zerohedge.com' and last I checked FR doesn't do that site.

What decent person in their right mind would voluntarily live in LA, San Francisco, Portland or Seattle?

You can buy a 3BR/2B house in NC for that!

The “Tiny House” fantasy is the least effective way of housing people, and it is (still, incredibly) being promoted by those who have zero experience in the field.

Some politicians are getting a good slice of the $130k rip-off price.

You know, in some parts of Tennessee, $80k buys you a full-up house, with AC unit, built in the past 60 years, and a two-car garage.

***to the total cost of $130,000 each,***

Say what? You can build a nice brick three bedroom house on a foundation for that!

Why not just build open bay barracks for the homeless! They worked for military!

130k must include the daily delivery of booze and drugs.

They probably had to go with underground utilities to prevent the “residents” from stealing the utility wires!

I ‘volunteered’ once for Habitat for the Homeless (Jimmy Carter’s project), through work. Some observations:

1) Only the ‘adults’ were allowed to use power tools (probably not a bad idea, since I doubt many of the volunteers knew which end of a screwdriver to hold).
2) The houses were tiny, with a small concrete slab for parking (probably around 800 square feet, if that).
3) There were really nice houses across the street.

The last one sickened me so much that I left very quickly, knowing that the people across the street didn’t buy the land and build their houses just to have the Third World show up. Needless to say, the other volunteers there thought the project was the best thing in the world.

Where do I sign up as a subcontractor?
My design uses renewable materials and is completely recyclable.

Indoor plumbing is extra, of course.

Homelessness?

-Close the border,

-Don't pretend that encouraging drug use is a public good,

-Stop the COVID lockdown that is shuttering JOBS!

Before we had “homeless” we had “flop houses” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flophouse) but liberals thought these inexpensive places were beneath the dignity of those with little means and regulated them out of businesses.

The same brains that shut down these low cost places to get off the street also closed mental hospitals and dumped the patient back into society and for many to a life on the streets.

The government created the problem and they are trying to solve it the only way then know how - spend other people’s money.

(My guess is that someone well connected is providing these disposable homes at $130,000 a pop)

Prediction all these “homes’ will be non-livable within five years.

You can bet the construction co. is likely Garcetti Constr or another official.
And I’ll bet the land is purchased from another official for top dollar.

They have built exactly the same type of “village” 2 miles from our house in Tacoma. It is the second one in the city. They were built for approximately the same ammount of money per structure as in LA. This is what the socialists areound here want for all of us.

Despite having a central structure for going to the bathroom and cleaning up... you can smell the place before you go past it in the car. The marijuana cloud, booze, garbage, urine, and feces from people who can’t be bothered to use the provided facility stinks up the entire area.

They literally have a shuttle bus that drops them off at nearby intersections with their gas cans and pan handling signs and supplies. At least there is a central location where merchants could retreive their stollen shopping carts if they still wanted them after being filled with garbage and hapless pets.

Within a week of the first one opening, one mentally deranged bum shot another one in the head and killed him. Despite white bums being much more prevalent around here, minority bums and women get preference.

The insanity at the core of this story is reminiscent of an old politically incorrect joke told among physicians. “Try not to accept anyone in your practice who lives in a trailer park or anyone who has ever lived in LA”

Why don’t they just go buy sheds from Home Depot?

Insanity.

Not that they SHOULD give free housing to anyone, but a bunch of shipping containers with one door removed and a bunch of portapotties would be smarter.
