Just playing devil’s advocate: If I were Cuomo I would say that the reason those places were such low transmission places is BECAUSE we shut them down. i.e. the graphs prove our actions were effective.

Unless I’m missing something here.

The stats are crap.

NYS counts probables as new cases. Repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.

And don’t get me started about the lack of transparency regarding the cycle threshold/s labs in NYS are using.

The stats are freaking useless from a public health standpoint.

But then this was NEVER about public health.

i.e. the graphs prove our actions were effective.

Impossible to make that case, given that there are still “spikes” and “surges”, even, and especially in, places where they have the strictest “mitigation measures” in place. If this stupidity worked, we would be doing it for over 9 MONTHS, and we wouldn’t be hearing about needing to do it for another 12+ months.

COVID is a LIE.

“the reason those places were such low transmission places is BECAUSE we shut them down”

Good point but maybe the period of time being analyzed was before the stringent closures of those places. If so, the conclusions would perhaps be valid.

Also, in the article there’s “He knew they were innocent, and he buried them some more.”

That’s a serious charge. Why would Cuomo do that?

My main concern now is whether the damaged and closed businesses can recover. If not then the economic tragedy is, in my opinion, worse than the covid tragedy.

Also, I think the magnitude of the covid tragedy is being exaggerated by the media and the magnitude of the economic tragedy is being glossed over.

Those 737 MAX crashes were due in part to failure of their navigational instruments. Our news media is our navigational instrument for showing us how our government and society is ‘flying’. It is failing us. Hopefully we’ll fix it before we crash.

‘the graphs prove our actions were effective.’

he would still br stuck with the spike in home infections; and then have to explain how stay at home orders were justified...

“Just playing devil’s advocate: If I were Cuomo I would say that the reason those places were such low transmission places is BECAUSE we shut them down.”

My thinking: If I have horses in a corral, and I close three gates and leave one gate open, will only 25% of my horses get out? Or will the horses flow thru the open gate?

We cannot keep the virus out of homes, and once in a home, it is easier to spread. Still not “easy” because none of the married couples I know who had one spouse catch it have had it spread to the other spouse - while living as man & wife in quarantine.

But I was told the other day that the reason masks don’t work is because people take them off when they get home....
