I’ll chime in. One of my daughters worked in the movie biz as a production assistant for about a year (crazy story). Ended up being on MM team. He was nothing but delightful and encouraging. Told my daughter about a dark time in his life when he was struggling and his mom would tell him to “just keep living”. We still use that one. I think he ended up starting a foundation or something with that slogan. Very much a family man and cute interacting with his 3 kids. Like a lot of actors, he likes to stay in character in between takes. Once, I called my daughter with some sad news at a very moment when she was holding an umbrella over him as he was sitting/concentrating between takes. She was giving monosyllabic answers to me so I could tell she couldn’t talk just then. She told me later, Mr McConaughey still looked up and asked if everything was ok.

Have a lot more stories but this was all 5 years ago...maybe Hollywood has gotten to him a bit more, I don’t know, but I have no problem defending him a bit as he was a positive influence to my daughter.

The problem with the woke is how much they literally seem to believe there’s a hardcore bigot underneath every bed.

That's not a bug, that's a feature. That's how the Left retains control over their minions. You create the enemy, and then sell yourself as the only resistance to the enemy.

If most of the leftwing voting base were given even one minute to breathe and reflect, they would start to say "Hey, these people don't seem that bad" so the Left has to keep on the pressure "OMG Trump is Hitler, white supremacy everywhere, they're slaughtering black people in the streets! I listened to him on a podcast interview (~2 hrs) with Joe Rogan and was very impressed with his introspection and deep thinking. He’s kept a journal for 26 years so when things are good he can reflect on what was going on at that time and when things are going bad he can can look back to see “what worked”. He seems to be devoutly Christian and prays every day. He’s come far enough that Hollywood can’t touch him. I was really surprised by him.

Wow. Thank you for that. See my post #45 for our own interaction with him. I’m afraid to say what little I knew of him prior to that led me to believe he was a “typical” Hollywood-arrogant, self-important type. Not sure why. I was happy to be proven wrong.

Sidenote, speaking of actors: We were watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation last night and I ended up looking up actor Randy Quaid (character actor..brother of Dennis Quaid). Wow..very pro-Trump. He posted this on Twitter a few days ago: “ The amount of people calling me by the name of a character I played in a couple of movies is bizzarro. Even weirder that people think I am any of the characters I play. I am a trained actor that simply loves God and my country and wants the real elected president in office!”

Matthew McConaughey is actually a serious deep thinker person, quite unlike the characters he plays. I was watching one of his interviews on youtube. Or at least that’s how he came across.

No, he is an opportunistic charlatan that is very good at playing pretend. And he creeps me out whenever I hear his voice, it just sounds like someone gargling tapioca with a mouthful of underripe peas while simultaneously coughing.
