If you go back far enough, almost everyone is connected to slavery somehow. There were slaves in Europe in the early Middle Ages. How can you prove that none of your ancestors were among their owners?

My third-great grandfather from Tennessee applied for a pension as result of his service in the Cherokee War. I don't know he owned slaves or served along side Elizabeth Warren's ancestor.
