The Big Apple could shut down indoor dining next week if the coronavirus infection rate does not slow down, officials privately acknowledge.
Under state rules, if New York City’s seven-day state testing average exceeds 3 percent for more than 10 days, it would hit Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s thresholds for imposing orange zone restrictions — which include shutting down indoor dining and a four-person limit on tables for outdoor dining.

It’s happening in Erie County now
Minnesota for the next 4 weeks.
That’s the final nail, for these smaller, NY restaurants, then. Outdoor dining, in the coming low temps, probably won’t keep them afloat, will it?
According to Cuomo, who said this yesterday, residents brought this on themselves for not obeying his diktats.
No.
It won’t.
Cynical? Yeah, perhaps ... but I have a real problem with "coincidences" of such magnitude.
Die NYC, die like a dog. Then sell the real estate to conservatives who will resurrect the city into a nice place.
Make New York Indian Again.
Yes a number of places are open on staten island.
Ya know what’s ironic?
I haven’t eaten in any of them ONCE.
I got so used to saving money by not paying 5 to 10 times what the food would cost if I bought it and prepared it on my own that I just didn’t want to go anymore.
Go figure.
The media now is starting to turn on Cuomo since they view Trump as less powerful.
To be fair, there are exceedingly few cities I’d call “nice places”. Cities have an inherent inertia towards being filthy, crime-ridden cesspools with far too many people in far too little space. No fresh air to breathe, no open spaces to enjoy; just a concrete Hellscape focusing and amplifying all the worst aspects of modern society.
Reading that back, I do think I come off a bit biased about it.
Many of us will not survive, my friends that own restaurants and gyms are pissed off but, this will continue until the people finally stand the eff up and say ENOUGH!
I’ve been organizing protests and rallies up here for 15 years or more. Not enough people stand up, they sit back as keyboard activists and think it’s enough.
Right now behind the scenes they are organizing a protest in front of the county executives house Sunday morning.
Elections have consequences! .. watch who you vote for — and now, watch out for cheaters!!!
Good luck with outdoor dining in the middle of winter on the East Coast kids
That’s really funny the wife said the exact same thing to me
She said she was eating out is expensive! we’re saving a lot of money!
Yep, and the millennials wonder why they can't pay down their student loan debt when they order a McDonalds Burger and have Ubereats deliver it all for $15 when it costs less than a buck to cook yourself.
So if states like this have people out of work, unable to pay ther rent or mortgage, unable to buy anything not essntial to survive-——they will beg for government money. Kamala and AOC with a socialist takeover plan to the “rescue.” Just in time.
Just this part of the economy (restaurants and cafes) includes:
Waitstaff, cooks, produce/ meat and dairy supply companies and drivers, suppliers of napkins and takeouts utensils and clamshells and the places all of the workers used to spend their earned money.
It’s the beginning of cold and flu season. There was always going to be a spike now. They said it back in March.
Well, maybe the locals will rise up elect a Conservative now. If not I have no pity for the fools. You get what you voted for.
