What happened is that the voters were given sharpies to fill out their ballot. The voting instructions clearly say not to use a sharpie as the ink will bleed through causing a “blotch”. When the machine sees this, it flags the ballot. The poll worker was to instruct the voter to press the button to override the “flag” and let the ballot count. Instead, the “button” canceled the ballot and vote did not count. This has been pointed out a few days ago (Sharpiegate) and looks like the lawsuit has finally arrived - they need people to sign affidavits to claim it happened.

For some reason, voters were give sharpies which leached thru the ballot (two sided ballot)
The machines were often confused, recording “overvotes”
Generally the voter has an option to get new ballot or disregard the overvote (vote in that particular position will be canceled). Since there were so many overvotes, voters were sort of asked to cancel the overvote, not get new ballot.
Tons of ballots were affected, but I am not sure how many in the “presidential” position. I saw mostly the Judges of AZ supreme court!
Anyway, this is major embarrassment for the election authority and the ballots should be counted manually.
