Dude obviously needs more time on the range and some practice under stress if he wasn’t able to hit his target at short range.

Most of the commentators have never had any sort of incoming, moving target or duress applied to their shoooting training so they are sophomoric in criticism.
One ought to take a friend to the range, and try to replicate such situation while the friend fires paint balls at him from the flank and the target is moving across the range at 25-30 mph. Seeking cover while assessing, deciding and attempting to engage....
