A Dalton, Mass., man who’s been charged with burning a political display was found dangerous by a Berkshire District Court judge and ordered to be held without the right to bail pending trial.
Lonnie Durfee, 49, is charged with burning a hay bale display supporting Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the Holiday Brook Farm on Route 9 in Dalton on the evening of Oct. 9.
Durfee was arrested the next morning and charged with burning personal property. At his arraignment, he was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
That hearing was held Friday before Judge Paul Smyth in the Pittsfield court.
“Mr. Durfee’s record shows that he has engaged in a pattern of domestic violence, including strangulation, a strong indicator of potential lethality. Mr. Durfee’s recent arson allegations are particularly concerning in light of his violent history because he is escalating his hostility against the public at large,” said District Attorney Anrea Harrington.
The farm’s management had constructed the display that morning from 19 rolled bales of hay with the names of the candidates painted on plastic covering the hay. Holiday Brook Farm in Dalton
The display in support of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at Holiday Brook Farm in Dalton was set on fire on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020.
As workers finished up for the day they discovered the hay burning and called firefighters.
No one was injured in the fire.
He should gave burned a police car instead, and thrown a brick at a cop.
Then he would have been released without bail.

You just can’t put out a fire in round bales. They will have to keep a fire truck on hand while they smolder for days.
