The Trump administration can end counting for the 2020 census after the Supreme Court approved a request for now to suspend a lower court order that extended the count's schedule.

The high court's ruling, following an emergency request the Justice Department made last week, is the latest turn in a roller coaster of a legal fight over the timeline for the count...

Justice Department attorneys say the Census Bureau is under pressure to meet a legal deadline of Dec. 31 for reporting to the president the first set of census results — the latest state population counts that determine each state's share of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives. The numbers, in turn, also determine how many Electoral College votes each state has to determine who becomes the U.S. president in 2024 and 2028.

One of the things that has me scratching my head is, why did all these groups do NOTHING to help their poor wittle people to fill out the Census on-line. Like loaning laptop computers to community centers, common areas, playgrounds, basketball courts, and similar places where people who would otherwise be under-counted congregate. (I would have added “churches” but COVID.)

I've done some family research in recent years,much of it through census records. The records I've seen all asked place of birth *and* citizenship.

The data for this Census is not going to be as good as previous Censuses.

I've worked the last two Censuses, and the 2020 field enumeration software is shaky at best.

The Bloomberg link is saying 99.9% are reported. The looney San Francisco court had blocked it, trying to postpone things. Thus, the WH had to ask the Supremes to tell the SF court to pound sand and let the the WH finish so it can meet an end of the year deadline.

Translation: the Dims believe the census count will be uglier for them than if Michelle got into a beauty contest with Melania. So they tried to postpone it and make chaos out of it by claiming it wasn't done in time. SCOTUS said 'nuff.

I didn’t fill it out this year. One census worker knocked on our door while we were working from home and busy.

I yelled through the door, “ we have Covid, go away”.

The enumerator went to one of your neighbors’ home and got the information. That’s why you didn’t get another visit.
