Trump economic adviser: Senate Republicans will 'go along with' White House stimulus proposal despite their pushback

President Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow said Sunday that Senate Republicans will "go along with" the $1.8 trillion White House stimulus proposal despite their vocal pushback.

Kudlow told CNN's "State of the Union" that the White House expects support from Republicans in the upper chamber. A source told The Hill on Saturday that several senators expressed "significant concerns" about the proposal's cost in a call with administration officials.

The White House economic adviser said on Sunday he does not think the coronavirus stimulus bill is "dead."

"Republicans in the Senate put up their own bill a few weeks ago and got 53 votes, I think it was, so they united," he said. "I think if an agreement can be reached, they will go along with it."

Finally, some sanity from these stiffs. If Trump wanted $$$ for endless war they’d give him a blank check.

Yeah adding 2 trillion to a 27 trillion dollar debt is a good move.

1.7 trillion will be wasted and 300 billion will be the $1,200 stimulus check shiny object to distract us.

There’s a lot of jobs out there. If someone needs money that bad, there’s a lot of gig jobs. You do what you have to but not when you are given $600 a week by the federal government to stay home.

And a lot will go towards Democrat cities and states. I’m in one of those cities and states and I think this is crazy. Everyone was so against it just a little while ago.

and money will go towards politicians and their families and their families’ and friends’ businesses and organized crime and some disorganized crime and large corporations that don’t need it.

oh and there’s money for the arts and money for prison reform and lots of other nonsense in there.

And then there’s graft and kickbacks.

Am I the only one on this board that thinks Trump can win without this stimulus?

If I am, shame on you.

Put 400 billion towards small and medium-sized businesses that can prove brutal hardship. And I mean prove. Go over everything with a fine tooth comb.

Yes I will take the percentage of the 1200 that I can receive but I don’t need it. There are a lot of people that weren’t affected that don’t need it.

We all know how quickly people get used to money coming out of nowhere.

This won’t be the last “stimulus” if it gets passed

No discussion of aid for blue states and cities until after the election.

If republicans regain the house and hold the senate—then they’ll be in a position to demand of democrat cites and states that in exchange for federal money and states they 1.) abolish sanctuary cities and states. 2.) allow ice to work. 3.) fully fund police.

that’s just a starter. for cities like sf and la the feds can require that they change back the law that they changed which enabled those cities to be over run with tent cities.

Senate Republicans went along with the Kavanaugh smears, went along with impeachment -- they've suddenly got standards?

Just toss more deficit spending bills onto the big pile./s

When it comes to helping working men & women, you bet it is, and rather than clutch your pearls and suggest that family men get 'gig jobs' (whatever the hell they are) best you move out of that cesspool and take a look at America, West of the Bayonne Bridge.

Maybe so. But at least we are borrowing at very low interest rates . I do generally agree with you, but it won’t hurt on Nov. 3rd If the stock market is going through the roof.

I’ve resigned myself years ago to the fact that the majority of American people want more government spending.

Even those who cry about reducing spending, whine like little bitches when they propose cuts to their pet programs.

the stimulus money is simply OUR money they might give us back....its OURS....OUR tax dollars....

incredible amount of income/ss/medicare/sales/property taxes are making us poorer by the day....

they should cut taxes all together but until they do, I'll take a little rebate here and there...afterall, it is OUR money...

I would be very happy to get a stimulus check, thank you Mr. President. I think it’s best the President show us his love in a monetary fashion, rather than the American people vote in the Dems to give them money and then they’ll go all socialist on us. Be smart, friends.

Normally I would agree 100% - but at this juncture, if it helps get Trump reelected, keeps or grows the Senate, and maybe take over the House, it will be worth it.
If we get a clean sweep on 3 Nov, we will really see the fruits of a Trump Presidency.

And what part of the Constitution gives FedGov the power to give away free helicopter $$$? Or almost anything else in their $3T 'stimulus'? Or anything in the new $2T 'stimulus'? Just because it's politically good for our side doesn't mean it's more Constitutional than when the Dems do it..

So just because there’s some money being used wrongly, it’s ok that we do it even more? Someone robbed the bank a bit, so everyone needs to get their fingers in the pie? Why bother having a Constitution if we don’t even try to hold under it?
