Confusing.
The damn thing is so broad. AOW probably includes the homemade, bored out bolt and BB cannons neighborhood kids made when I was in high school.
Didnt watch the video, but poking any alphabet agency is not smart.
They also did this about thirty years ago when some enterprising individual made a non-attached stock for a handgun. The item fit from the wrist of the hand to the shoulder.
As the Popiel Pocket Fisherman used to say, “And it really really works!” That’s why it was banned.
This company was probably on ATF's radar for some other dumbassery. IIRC, one of the guys at Q has commented on suppressor tube replacements, saying that you could take a registered "can" and transfer its serial number to a new tube with entirely different internal baffles (destroying the old tube) and that would be legal.
Seems like the sort of thing that would earn a company some extra scrutiny.
Nothing on earth pursues legalisms like the deep state, fourth branch of government. After all, to them, its the letter not the spirit of a law that matters.
Reagan did worse than that.

IN HIS WORDS

However, as the debate over gun control became more nuanced in the years to come, so too did Ronald Reagans positions. In the early 1990s, he announced support for the Brady Bill, named for his staffer who was paralyzed by the 1981 attempt on Reagans life. That legislation, which called for background checks for gun purchases, was adopted in 1993. The topics of Ronald Reagan, the NRA and the 1994 assault weapons ban were among those fueling public debate about gun control that year. The former president joined Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter in publicly calling on Congress to ban the manufacture of military-grade assault weapons.
It was rhetorical...To invite discussion...LOL, you seem to be somewhat judgemental. Perhaps not all of us are as gifted as you.
By then, Reagan was senile. My uber-conservative mom got more lib in her last few years. I expect it to happen to me when my mind goes.
You seem knowledgeable. Can states bypass these laws by passing state laws on non interstate equipment. For example, can a state legalize mufflers manufactured in the state as long as they dont leave the state or for sale outside the state.
I want to push states to pass hearing protection acts. Legalize mufflers.
Good points...I agree with you...
California Reagan was part of the reason for President Trump (men at work).
The arm braces were always a ruling away from this.
Local shops won’t stock them for that reason.
But, they have been in the “wild” for years now. This ruling makes me think the ATF is counting on a Trump loss.
They have done so with illegal drugs. So I don’t see why not. Except that the .gov doesn’t care about drugs (except to raise money). It does care about guns.
> son ... paperwork
If he is a responsible party in your trust, what is now normal practice is to include an amendment to the trust with your filing that removes him and everyone else except you.
Then later you can shred the amendment. That does not have to be reported.
Ask your NFA lawyer. Mine recommended this to me and the trust was accepted by ATF a few months ago. They granted the requested stamp(s). I am now free to shred the amendment if I want to.
You do not need to get paperwork from your son if the reason is that you want him in the trust.
I thought we already went through this?
“Sources note that the number of privately-owned AR-15 pistols with pistol braces could be in the millions.”
Yep.
