Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and 10 of the citys public employee unions have struck another deal to delay the citys furlough program, leaving workers with just one unpaid day off before the end of the year, according to a memo issued last week.
The City Council approved a plan last month to force more than 15,000 city workers to take one unpaid day off every two weeks effectively a 10% pay cut as part of a larger effort to balance the budget. But last week, Garcetti and the citys bargaining committee changed course, signing off on an alternative cost-cutting strategy that would eliminate all but one unpaid day off until at least January.

I think what they are hoping for, is a bailout from the federal government.
If Biden is president, and Democrats are in charge of Congress in January, it is widely expected that a multi trillion dollar bailout bill, for state and local governments, will be enacted.
So probably what’s happening here, is that they figure they can hang on until January, then the federal government will save them, financially speaking.
This is happening everywhere, or at least some major Democratic run jurisdictions claim to be in severe financial distress due to the virus lockdowns. De Blasio in NYC says he has about a $9 billion deficit. Cuomo in NY State is short by up to $30 billion by some estimates.
Gold will be $5k an ounce if Biden wins.
I own gold. But if that happens, bread will be $5 a loaf. If it keeps raining in China, that is gonna happen anyway.
They all want a massive bailout.
Agree. They are kicking the can over the election here. No surprise.
While they certainly are impacting by the virus, these leftist sh!tholes have been overspending for decades; include my state of NJ in that bunch. Any handout will let them continue to maintain their liberal gubmint worker caste (thinly veiled means of funneling taxpayer dollars into Dem coffers) as the upper middle class in those areas.
