The Commission on Presidential Debates may allow moderators for the next two debates to cut off the microphones of President Trump or Joe Biden if they break the rules, according to sources who spoke to CBS News.
This followed the first of the Presidential debates, hosted by Fox Newss Chris Wallace. The second debate will be hosted by Steve Scully of C-SPAN, and the third debate will be hosted by Kristen Welker of NBC News.

The commission that oversees the general election presidential debates said Wednesday it will be making changes to the format of the remaining two debates. One key change it plans to implement: Cutting off the microphones of President Trump and Joe Biden if they break the rules, according to a source familiar with the commissions deliberations. The plans have not been finalized and the commission is still considering how it would carry out the plan.
In a statement following the presidential debate in Cleveland, Ohio, the first of three scheduled in the run-up to the general election, the commission said the event made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues.
An informed source told CBS News Norah ODonnell the commission will spend the next 48 hours determining new guidelines and rules for the second debate. The organization is working on all possible solutions, but the source said that we are going to be making changes.

They will cut off President Trump?? Will they cut off feed to Biden's ear implant??
Who are members of the Commission on Debates?
“Will they cut off feed to Biden’s ear implant??”
They already refused to, before Tuesday.
Trump can adapt, Biden can’t.
Yes.
No.
I am OK with Scully. But the third debate . . . I don’t want ANYBODY from NBC-PRAVDA!
Why do I hear, “I PAID for this microphone!”?
How about lights time clock and buzzer warnings too.
Good. Maybe we can better hear when the moderator says something like, “STFU, you Nazi bastard!” to the president.
Leadership of the Commission:
The commission is headed by
Frank Fahrenkopf, a former Republican National Committee chairman,
Dorothy S. Ridings, the president and chief executive officer of the Council on Foundations,
Kenneth Wollack, former president of the National Democratic Institute.

As of 2020, the board of directors consisted of:
John Griffen,
Yvonne Hao,
Janet H. Brown is the current executive director.
You cant cut off the mic of the President of the United States.
It’s bad enough we have such totally partisan biases moderators, not they want to stop President Trump from speaking too?
THIS IS IN INSTANT REJECTION OUT OF HAND.
Under no circumstances should Trump agree to this nonsense.
Biden interrupted first. But Trump is the problem??
I can guarantee you that they will be loathe to cut off Bidens microphone. Now, jamming his earpiece would be a GREAT idea!
Trump should just bring a mini-bullhorn in his coat pocket.
No deal!
Like that would stop Trump.
“You cant cut off the mic of the President of the United States.”
A while back, our domestic enemies urged Big Media to cut away from the President while he was talking about Covid, and they complied, including Faux News.
Trump needs to wear a lapel mic since they aren’t checking for wires.
Or maybe, he needs to tweet that he might wear a hidden mic and make them check both candidates for wires.
Im for electrifying the podium to give the disturber an electrical shock.
So who’s going to cut off the moderator’s mike if you get another clown like Wallace?
I would support a Chess Clock model.
90 minute debate — moderator starts with 10 minutes total and each candidate starts with 40 minutes total.
When your mic is on, your clock is ticking and no one else can speak. If you want your clock to stop, and preserve your time for the future, hit your own button and shut off your own mic.
Seems fair to me. Stops the interrupting and stops the endless pontificating.
