police force said its officers will take enforcement action if crowds fail to comply with officers and risk the health of each other and indeed police officers.

'We Do Not Consent': Thousands Defy COVID-19 Curbs During London Anti-Lockdown Rally Protesters held placards reading: "When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty"

London: Thousands of anti-lockdown demonstrators turned up at Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday for a so-called "We Do Not Consent" rally to protest against restrictions imposed to check the spread of coronavirus, including the current "rule of six" which limits gatherings to a maximum of six people. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement to warn that it would be stepping up patrols in line with the planned demonstrations, even as it reminded the public that such gatherings could be in breach of regulations designed to protect people from the virus.

It is illegal for people to gather in groups of more than six, unless they are exempt. While protest is one of those exemptions, organisers must submit a risk assessment and must comply with social distancing.

I love how reliable an ally Desantis has been for Trump. Don’t know much else about him though.

Last weekend, a similar anti-lockdown protest turned violent, resulting in 32 arrests.

“Last weekend it was highly disappointing to see that a small minority of demonstrators targeted officers with violence. Some 15 officers were injured during this protest, with more than 32 arrests being made during the course of the day. I will not tolerate a repeat of this behaviour this weekend and officers will respond quickly to any scenes of violence,” added Commander Adekelan.

As a proud Floridian, I believe Ron DeSantis is the best large-state governor in the country. Not that he has much competition after the tyranny of Cuomo, Newsom, and Pritzker and the surprisingly weak showing by Abbott.

At least Greg Abbott has the potential for redeeming himself.

"...derives its just powers FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED.">

Sounds like they've read and understood OUR Declaration of Independence...
...while WE have forgotten it!

Totally agree.

But I live in Florida, and I went out to one of my favorite restaurants, expecting to find them ecstatic over being able to open to capacity and not wear masks again...I left because I made a casual comment to the hostess about how happy they must be, and she said no, we’re very unhappy. We don’t care about business, it’s all about “safety.”

Fer Pete’s sake. She, of course, was masked up to her eyeballs - so I guess she doesn’t believe in masks herself, otherwise her own mask would be sufficient. LOL!

But the point is that it’s going to be very hard to get people out of this narrative and get them living normally again, especially if they’re liberals (a lot of them live in that particular neighborhood).

DeSantis needs to do a PR campaign, because of course the press is arrayed against him and shrieking in panic.

google images only show tight shots of small sections of the crowd. this has an aerial shot, supplied by Met Police, but not sure

a) whether it is from this weekend’s protest or
b) if it is, don’t think it shows the full crowd once the rally got going, because there is no-one on the stage when this was taken and I’ve seen pics of people well outside the boundaries of this pic.
