I dont like the waiting a month in fact l think its dangerous and stupid. Any delay and boom you are past the election and that could be catastrophic. You are giving the rats a month to come up with something anything to delay it a few days. If this isnt done before Election Day the rats come out like locusts and the chance of generation could be lost. The rats would this done three days after the announcement. Mitch is just excruciating with the games he plays.
Just remember that the Republicans are better off with a possible 4-4 tie instead of sure-thing 5-4 loss on any critical election issues.
And if Roberts would vote in G.O.P.’s favor, it would have been 5-4 with RBG and will be 5-3 with her seat vacant.
I like these kind of problems.
At the very least, he’s probably trying to make the process not seem rushed. A lot will depend on Graham keeping the hearings moving and on schedule. Maybe he should run them like the hearings Nadler held in the House.
A trifecta of Leftist tears: Ginsburg’s death, successor’s confirmation, and the election.
Adjourn the senate. Let it go as a recess appointment. F Schumer and the rest of those a holes. My guess trump and turtle trying not to hurt any senator this could hurt. Collins is dead if she votes yes. But she said we would not vote yes anyway.
You mean, like Lindsey Graham?
What are they going to do between now and Oct 12?
linda Graham heads the Judiciary Committee. He could call the committee to order on the first day of hearings, hold a vote and be done with it.
To me, the hearings are just more Kabuki theater with various politicians preening before the cameras. Since the Repubs have a majority on the committee, the result has already been determined. Why not vote early and avoid all the hassle?
“This should be jammed down.”
I’m with you 100%. There is too much at stake.

Mark it down. Trump will hold the swearing in ceremony on Nov. 2.
Looks almost as if the Republican senators have some inside word that the nominee will be easy to confirm and noncontroversial.
Several Democrat Senators could be hurt by a vote. It can work both ways. Four Senators that lost in 2018 were hurt by votes against Kavanauh.
Doug Jones is up in Alabama. He is likely to lose, but might vote for a Trump appointee as a hail Mary pass.
Gary Peters is up in Michigan. He is likely to win, but a vote against a Constitutionalist could hurt him.
Tina Smith is up in Minnesota. It is moving toward Trump.
Jeanne Shaheen is up in New Hampshire. An anti-Constitutionalist vote could hurt her.
Tom Udall is up in New Mexico. New Mexico is far from being far left. A vote against a Constitutionalist could hurt him.
Slap,thy name is B****.
Too close to election. Anything could go wrong.

No hearings? FBI background check? Or, if it’s Barrett, since she already had a BG check for the circuit court, can McConnell streamline the process?
Why are you obsessed with her father-in-law? What about your take on her record as a justice with the FL Supreme Court?
That's what I'd like to know. If they've got the votes, then they should do it as quickly as possible, to get the nominee confirmed, and get her over to the court so she can get acclimated as soon as possible. Taking that long leaves too much time for the Democrats to play games, and some a-hole Republican (like Mitt Romney) to change his mind. I don't trust any of them, so the sooner this is finished, the better. Waiting until Oct. 29th is cutting it pretty close to November 3rd.
If it's Barrett, she just went through a confirmation hearing in 2017.
I understand hearings arent required.
