And in fairness, the Senate, as part of Legislature, is a co-equal branch of govt. as much as I dont like Mitch, Trump is not his boss...Its up to Mitch on timing and process.
It better be before the election.
The election itself may depend on it.
A 4-4 tie in the USSC leaves whatever lower court ruling comes about in place.
Mitch will have the nominee in before the election
Mitch can’t give a date since Schumer has invoked the two hour rule that pretty much closes down committees and other business.
Stand and deliver
No, Mitch is dealing with the reality of the Senate. He will push hard to get the Senate to vote before the election.
Nothin the constitution says anything about hearings I bet Mitch just takes a vote and moves on easy peasy DONE!! Heads explode hair on fire but DONE!!
I don’t see the problem with not getting to the vote before Election Day, as long as it happens this year.
The lame duck session will do.
Only reason to do it before is if you think Trump might lose and then a few senators go squishy right after.
remember when people read the article, then posted? those were the days.
What is the point of a committee hearing?
45 Democrats, 2 “independents”, and 2 Republicans have announced their votes. That makes 49 “no” votes.
They will not change their minds with a committee hearing.
#filltheseat.
You're wrong.
Schumer put the 2-hour rule in place. That puts everything in flux. Jerk!
Thanks. I feel better now.
They did not announce their vote. They said they don't want to vote. Murkey Cow is not up for reelection and someone has dirt on her - who knew?
There's no constitutional nor legal requirement for hearings.
A good portion of the GOP wants to hand it all to the DNC.
Fake news. If the choice for the nomination is sane and not too political, we’ll see another Justice appointment. If not,...
Is he playing a game (manipulating) our president. I hope not.
The Daily Mail is FAKE NEWS!
Yah, but that’s not the same as saying (as intimated upthread) that the GOP-e is selling us up the river, and not voting until after the election.
