News of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death has triggered further division in an already fractured political world: Democrats say the Supreme Court's new vacancy should not be filled in an election year, while Republicans are vowing to hold a vote on whomever President Donald Trump nominates.
But how did Ginsburg feel about election year Supreme Court nominations?
Fortunately, she made it clear in 2016 when Republicans and Democrats fought over filling the vacancy left by Antonin Scalia's sudden death nine months before the election.
When asked if the Senate should consider then-President Barack Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland, Ginsburg said, "That's their job," the New York Times reported.
"There's nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being president in his last year," Ginsburg added.
Several months later, Ginsburg said having only eight justices on the Supreme Court is not good.

Nice!
The reliably half-bright AOC charges President Trump with “violation of RBG’s wish.” Apparently she’s oblivious to RBG’s other wish, against packing the court. When it comes to intellectualizing, AOC isn’t fast, she isn’t slow; she’s always half fast.
Frankly it really doesn’t matter what she once said then nor at the onset of her dying days.....she’s dead and gone and we are way better for it.
This is probably what they will try to impeach him for.
Fools.
I saw what you did there.
;^)
She was right. Eight justices on the court isn’t good.
I am not sure what President Trump should do, but he certainly has a dilemma in front of him. Our prayers must be with him.
She finally did something for America, instead of against it.
O yeah.. Scalia dying right before a union ruling.
RBG was not a super person; she does not get to state the conditions of her succession by fiat.
Look. Shes left this earth and I dont speak Ill of the dead
That being said , she had some not very nice things to say about our great and wonderful president , and I shall not forget them
Glad she’s gone. They sure milked her out.
“I am not sure what President Trump should do, but he certainly has a dilemma in front of him”

No delimna at all. He should immediately appoint the most qualified constitutionalist and the Senate must act, without debate and confirm them as far ahead of the election as possible.
The Supreme Court just interprets the law. They don’t write it. (Supposedly) Having said that, the Executive Branch can tell the Supreme Court to Pound sand. They don’t have to enforce any of their foolish unconstitutional rulings.
Impeachment will likely be a monthly event over the next four years. Shell impeach and it goes nowhere in the Senate and the cycle will repeat.
Only if the Rats keep the House
Honestly get rid of SCOTUS, It politicalized, and does nothing to protect the Constitution. Theres only 4 that really follow the rule of law. This branch has caused more pain grief and death than an other govt. body. Getting tired of the Popelike pompous tyrants in black robes making us bow down to them. Restructure the judicuary where they rule on crimes and put in the caveats that if they don’t follow thier oath, they are fred. No more perm jobs
RBG’s wish? Who gives a Sh!t about RBG’s wish?
